Ajax have never had a diagonal sash. You're thinking of the Peru national side. Since 1911, Ajax have had a single vertical stripe - actually not dissimilar to the kit Palace wore in the two seasons before the Allison redesign. He introduced the blue and red stripes in imitation of Barcelona.
