If you were a London club, surely your biggest derby game would be against another (proper) London club, not a seaside city 40 odd miles away?

Millwall really are our natural rivals, but you lot bring out the worst in Palace fans, I can remember the first big game against your lot when we got relegated to the third div, at the goldstone in 76, and the rest as they say is history.

I think of BHA as a kid turning up to football trials, all kitted out with the latest training gear and expensive coloured boots, giving the impression hes going to be good, when reality is hes pretty useless. Where as Palace have tshirt, shorts and black boots and is pretty bloody good. Looks like we'll be getting the coloured boots soon though.

While Leeds are a club with a far bigger fan base and a far more impressive history than both Palace and Brighton, they're a bit shit on the pitch at the moment, while Palace are absolutely bloody brilliant. If Leeds were one of the top 10 teams in the country like Palace are, I'm sure they'd be interested.

Its funny how you always have to big yourselves up, 6 and a half years ago Tony Bloom came along putting about £200m into the club, you guys kept calling us cheats. You are now in the Premiership getting in excess of £100m a year but because of the way football is set-up you still can't get the money to redevelop your ground unless it comes from your owners.

We are both on the same journey, we are just taking different routes as we started in different places. Make no mistake, we are doing just fine under the leadership of Bloom and Barber.

Even the most wall eyed palace fan realises that none of the proper London teams think of Palace as a fully fledged London team. Ask fans of Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham or Chelsea or Millwall who they consider as a local derby contender and NOT ONE of them would factor Palace. The only teams who might include them would be Charlton or Brentford.

If you travel to Palace it doesn't even FEEL like London. Getting off the train before Streatham is definitely NOT a foray to the capital.

I know it's a sore point with Palace who keep insisting they are a massive club from our nations capital but EVERYONE else knows that you're just a bunch of jesters from the burbs.

Palace should embrace the Yankification of their club as it could finally give them a real identity, one that suits them.

In the last few years they have thrashed around a bit trying to present themselves as 'old school' just because their stadium has had no investment. In reality the core of Palace is the opposite of old school football. Their fans have tried to import European fan culture to present themselves as something they are not in order to fill the vacuum where the club's soul should be. Ask the rest of football and they will always be the dodgy spivs of Terry Venables & Malcolm Allison, writing off debts and importing foreigners that they don't pay for. Danny Baker summed it up with the memorable description 'Horrible Suburban Crystal Palace in their loathsome showbiz kit.'

They may as well take the opportunity of the US investment to go the whole hog. They already have the sleazy cheerleaders and goal music, why not bring in a marching band and have the players run out through big paper pictures of themselves? It would be far more in keeping with the historic and current reality of them as a club than continuing to pretend that they are like working class Portsmouth battling modern fan culture in the big leagues. The only things they have in common with Portsmouth are the awful ground and the dodgy finances that made it possible.

Embrace it Palace. You could even change your name to the 'London Eagles' (or perhaps the 'Almost London Eagles')

Its hard not to feel sorry for Palace fans they have done nothing wrong really and they generally aren’t a bad bunch, when St.John’s got screwed they did the right thing.

Yet their club still can’t really shake the stigma prospering from others misery. Its almost the better they do the worse history judges them. That said their new found fickle fans and London Premier League day trippers will probably be completely unaware anyway from the past shenanigans

Because I'm bored and it makes me laugh, I've just had a quick look at the bottom of the NBA leagues, having been repeatedly told 'it's all about the draft'.

I'm enjoying highlighting the Philly's poor record under the minority ownership of palaces new money.

Having previously made the play-offs, then finished just below .500.
In the first season under new owners the 76ers were pipped to bottom by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Last season Milwaukee took their high draft position, changed things up, got a new coach and finished ranked 6th in the Playoffs.
Philly again finished 2nd from bottom.

They finished just above the New York Knicks.

This season NY has taken their high draft position and is currently at .500 (albeit early in the season)
Philly are yet to win and are currently 0-22, when you add in losing the last 10 games of last season.


I say bring on the new money, what's the worst that could happen.

They already have because they already 1. Have kids with drums 2. A fan base that only turns up when playing in the "best" league 3. Are used to sitting next to fans of the other team (see the Cantona kick photo) 4. Enjoy goal music 5. Fly an Eagle around the ground and If they ever do a protest then its all very contrived, looks as if it was dreamt up in a school room art class and is a million miles away from the old school Brighton type protests such as the York City game. Palace are more like Reading than an old school club whose fans turn up despite not playing in the top flight like Brighton or (and sorry to swear) Pompey. Bless them tho' they enjoy getting patted on the head by the BBC and Sky.

Also it was but not sure if still so Palace are the only London club that doesnt affiliate through London FA the rest all do not Essex Kent or Middlesex but London FA. they affiliate through Surrey FA. So they are not really a London club.any more than AFC Wimbledon.

I would love Palace to be a club from Surrey but alas that was taken away in 1965...Croydon Council has been part of Greater London since 1965, but the Royal Mail map still has the town within the Surrey county. And with Palace being north of Croydon in south Norwood, much as you may hate it we are classed as a London club. Greater London goes as far south as Caterham now a mile outside Godstone !!! Yet ask them whether they live in Surrey of GL and I know the response.

Are you sure about the only club that doesn't affiliate with the LFA...I am sure Charlton play in the Kent cup

Since they brought out Manchester United in 2005 the Bucs have got into the play offs once, whilst United have won the league 5 times, league cup three times, champions league once and another final.

I was on Surrey FA until 2000 and can assure you that at the time CPFC was affiliated o Surrey FA. and what is more they always applied to be exempt from the Surrey Senior Cup and played the eventual winners away in a pre season charity cup game to raise funds for the Surrey FA Benevolent Fund. That is fact irrespective of their geographical position as far as football was concerned they were a Surrey club not London.

Charlton didnt affliate to Kent then but may have changed as may CPFC.
