This picture however.. shows that some things never change... Dunk lunging in... yellow card/red card/penalty/sending off ... 1-nil down.. or player injured.... take your pick.

Erm, you are going to have to explain what you find funny, because I can't guess what it is.

I have given you a first hand account of what I saw - from near the front of Block C in the WSU directly in line with the incident. What did you see, and from where?

I agree with your account as seen from WSU. The way he threw himself to the ground could have won him an Oscar. He done this through the game though playing the ref

His side have the ball, so I assume Dunk won his challenge.

No, those other two are right - he very clearly lunged in two footed, missing the ball completely, booting poor Joey up in the air. It is all in that Sky footage you can't find on YouTube, and just like those other times when he actually did that.

How do you know his side had the ball.. but it's irrelevant.... he IS lunging in... he looks to have taken both Bong and FFS out.

How do you know he is lunging? It could have been a perfectly timed sliding tackle. The tackle we saw many times in the second half of last season.

The picture tells us nothing.

FFS is running off with the ball.

I'd suggest you colour in the glasses on your avatar a slightly more rose-tinted shade.

No one said two footed, no one said missing the ball completely, no one said booting Joey in the air.

But apart from that you are pretty spot on.

Lets move on...Some people will never rate Dunk no matter how good he is..The same people that probably slate Stockers at every opportunity....

It was 100% an incredibly daft foul. Seen from WSU and then again on the replays on sky when I got home.

Yep. Daft is the word. An action without reasoned logic. I'm certain if it wasn't Barton on the ball, Dunk wouldn't have made the tackle. He had little digs and swipes at him throughout the whole second half.

It wasn't vicious, two-footed or any other shocking description that other posters seem to think I'm suggesting..... It was DAFT and he was HAD. Much like his other sending offs. Never VICIOUS, just moments where he's lost all rational thought. You can see it happening a mile off.

Again, hopefully this season he has learnt from these silly errors as he's an EXCELLENT young defender.

What a stupid post. I find it very unlikely that the club would post a photo of a player lunging in on his own team mate in a training session.

My concern with Dunk is that he's old enough now not to do that. He's had two seasons of playing almost every game for us and had quite a few games before that yet he doesn't seem to have learnt. I said at half time against Derby (and then even more so when we went 1-0 down) that we should have taken him off because you could see him mistiming a tackle (a tackle he didn't even need to make) and getting sent off.

It is the only reason that he won't move to the Premier League this summer. He's got everything else that a great centre half needs. He's quite quick, good in the air, very good passer for a centre half and has a bit of class. As you say, hopefully this season missing the game against Middlesbrough will make him think more before diving in but whether, in the heat of a game, that will happen who knows.

Having said all that, I didn't think it was a foul on Barton in the Burnley game and I also thought, given what the referee let Derby get away with, that he was a bit unlucky to get his first booking against Derby.
