Personally don’t really have an issue with smoke bombs ect at games atmospheres and footballing experiences is part of the game or at least used to be but the punishment of a 3 year banning order which he’s likely to get would be enough to put any real fan off doing it. Not really. I've got lifelong asthma myself. The smoke was pretty full-on in the North, at the opposite end of the ground, at one point. The swirling wind meant it didn't really dissipate for a while. Didn't affect me unduly, but reading some of the posts on the thread about people who were badly affected, the tvvat that let the smoke bomb off should count themselves lucky they're not in line for a charge of GBH or, in a worst case scenario, worse. And the club - just like last time - just let it happen and made no effort to steam in and grab the scrotes responsible. Far easier to clamp down hard on bottle top miscreants. Shameful lack of duty of care by the club to its customers. Just like last time.

Yes there’s probably a bit of truth to your comments but the general football experience has changed beyond recognition for the older generation. I’m aware that criticism of Uncle Tony’s stadium will have the anoraks in a fluster but The Amex was not designed with atmosphere in mind and it certainly shows. Bigger clubs than us have the same problem, Arsenal and West Ham spring to mind

But a lot of world has changed beyond recognition....it’s what happens over time. And your comment about the stadium not being designed with atmosphere in mind is nonsense....as a number of games like the Sheffield Wed play-off game will back up. Atmosphere can be created if people want it. Also I, and many others, have said, the atmosphere is no better or worse than the Goldstone. In fact it’s similar ie north stand sings a few songs and very very very occasionally the rest of the ground joins in. It is what it is, but I think your mates are just using it as an excuse. I mean, sanitised or not, what else do they do with their Saturday afternoons*?

* apart from sit in their cosy local reminiscing about the past.

There must have been multiple smoke bombs because it got thicker after initially dispersing; then the fire crackers started. It was enough to trigger me to cough and I was the other end in the West North middle yday so I can well imagine a few with breathing difficulties coughing and spluttering a lot more and if really close to, then might have needed to get some first aid. Maybe not but the point is I guess it’s banned, does affect others and so predictable that no action is ever taken. I’d get rid of Police at this match altogether and save a fortune on stewarding too. Regardless, Palace have to be different. They are different. In a cheeky chavy way.

All the stewards were sat on the home side of the barrier, there were none on the palace side. None of the stewards at the back of the stand tried to intervene, absolute cowardice. As you say, they were too busy looking for bottletops in the home end.

Personally didn’t feel any affect in the north tbh but if others did then fair enough. GBH mind that’s going well over the top.. Maybe Granted they should have done and allegedly an arrest was made whether it was for actually letting it off or was someone else for having one it doesn’t really say. But the one caught will face a 3 year ban from football if found guilty

After they scored, some of their herberts started pushing against the barrier to have a go at the home fans and there wasn't anyone to stop them. Pathetic by the club really.

My brother, a season ticket holder since the first season at withdean and someone who went to both the goldstone and gillingham would very much disagree. He has a heart condition and ended up in the back of an ambulance. He didn’t go to a&E but the poor chap behind did.

What the flying **** has a smoke bomb got to do with the old footballing experience that us old timers apparently hark back to? Until the last few years I’ve not seen or smelt a smoke bomb at any game I’ve been to!

Similar to us, good, bad etc, but have this section of idiots giving them a bad name. Saw their actions a couple of years back when attacking people on way to the ground and then regroup back to the Police escort when they realised there was a reception party for them. My Friend wishes someone would teach them a Lesson and they can get rid of the cancer in their club.

I was in the North East corner and it caused my asthma and afib go into overdrive. That b stard should have a flare let off in their p key caravan.

This has of course happened before, Palace should be receiving some kind of penalty from the Premier League, otherwise they will do it again and again. I hope the parent of the kid in some distress will be taking things up with the club

The most disturbing part of this is that the club constantly big up the behaviour of these fans as if it's something to be proud of. Never a word of condemnation for vandalism, smoke bombs, attacking stewards, forcing their way into the ground a couple of seasons back, dressing like hooligans.

Smoke bombs/flares was probably the highlight of a thoroughly cr@p day.

Shame the football league are so against flares - doesnt seem to bother all the european clubs who set off massive firework displays and flares all game.

Certainly perked up an otherwise lacklustre atmosphere across the stadium for what was meant to be an electric derby atmosphere.
