This is a good opportunity to mention I've been invited to a meeting at the Amex next Thursday night to talk about arrangements for the game. In attendance will be Sussex Police, the Met, other Albion fans and Palace fans representatives. The Football Supporters' Federation have also been invited.

Please post any specific concerns or ideas you have, including any recollections of the handling of the last BHA v CPFC game at the Amex, and I will air them on your behalf at the meeting.

You can ask them what you like, the police are always right in these matters.
Who remembers the night game at Selhurst when they erected a 8 foot steel fence at the top of Holmesdale Road during the game !
It was to stop a potential flash point at the junction of Park Road, so what happened ? All the Herbert's ran round the side roads to wait for the Brighton fans at Norwood Junction !

Imagine it might be because they're laying on a "special" train back to Selhurst after the game, as previously, and the capacity of the train + busses would struggle to exceed 2,000?

Would expect Southern Fail to cancel all "special" trains if there is likley to be a security risk. They might also cancel all trains for late afternoon/early evening between East Croydon and Brighton after 3pm for "health and safety" reasons.

I have a suggestion for them. If they designate a pub in West St for away fans then when marching them to the station, they could save a lot of bother by going via Frederick Place rather than marching them past 3 or 4 pubs in Queens Road all full of Brighton fans. There would be just the one pub and which is very easy to block access to.

There is literally nothing enjoyable about it unless you are a wanabee hoolie or enjoy police dogs, horses, a tiny concourse, pillars blocking the view, a shitty block at the end of a horrible stand with wooden seats which is a fire hazard, and a load of Palace cretins singing "we love you".

Very much this. Get kettled to the ground, which truly is a shocking 19th century dilapidated slum which has to be seen to be believed in 2017, where you get to spend an afternoon of homophic abuse from a bunch of sub-literate hoodied spotty monobrow cretins with shit flags and a drum, then get held back for ages after the final whistle, then get forced to hang around for another 20 minutes in the street behind the stand before finally being kettled down to the station (whether you were actually going there or not).

Even if we win, you still have to wade through a ruinous swamp of fly-festering shitness either side of the match in order to actually enjoy it. Fair play to anyone who goes, but I've paid my last visit there. I'm in the "naah, not worth it" camp these days. I'll watch it on TV with a few beers, and whatever the result, I will switch it off at the end and thank FUNK I'm in Sussex, and not battling my way back out of Croydon.

Why are we only getting 2,000 at Selhurst? Is that a police decision? Seems normal away allocation is 2,900.

I'm told that the allocations are not police decisions, no.

I clearly made that post and got straight onto downloading the Premier League handbook. I found this in it:

"Unless otherwise agreed by the Board or between the Clubs, and subject to Rule R.10, at each League Match, the Home Club shall make available to the Visiting Club:
R.9.1. 3,000 tickets or, if the capacity of the Home Club’s Stadium is less than 30,000, such number of tickets as is equal to 10 per cent. of its Stadium capacity; and (whether or not that allocation is taken up)
R.9.2. tickets for a minimum of 10 per cent. of the Home Club’s disabled spectator accommodation."​

So, the clubs can agree to less than 10% (c2,600 is the standard away allocation at Palace I believe) it seems.
