[Albion] Palace Game - Postponed [was on/off?]

Surely the game is back on now, pending a PL wide postponement for the funeral?

Fixtures are compressed enough this season, postponing a game because of a train strike that isn’t happening doesn’t make sense.

If all games get called off that’s another thing.

Apparently the reason most games will be potentially called off next weekend is down to the vast numbers of police to be put in place for the state funeral likely to be on the Monday after.

It has been suggested it will require a massive police turn out which will see many forces all over the country heading to the capital next weekend, hence the stretched resources.

I would imagine all the Corporate Hospitality types have told their guests that the match is off, so people will have made alternative arrangements. It would be bizarre to go back to them and say “sorry, match back on”. Doubtless lots of other stuff to consider too, like bus and coach contracts, bar staff, stewards etc - trying to get them all back on duty would be a massive headache. I’d be amazed if it went ahead, even if other EPL games happen.

First game for ages, coming from Wales booked hotel, no problem from me.........astounded...Wales.

As it was postponed, BHA site, I have now cancelled my accommodation booking so they cannot de-postpone it!

Easy. Having a game to watch. People forget how hard it is to arrange shifts etc to get to games. For example I've already had to sort annual leave for 2 Saturdays NEXT August and even then the dates can change. Postponing tomorrow and Sat may well mean I can't go to the rearranged fixture. Whilst it's obviously not about me the club can't go around not playing just because it doesn't suit them. I'm sure you will have seen posts from others who were coming over specially for the game. The club owe it to the fans to put the game on if its practicable. If not, then I totally understand.

Im sure that will be the case. But given that next weekend will be the funeral im not so sure games will be on.

Unless there's strange rules about un-postponing a postponed game.

Its out of our hands really. Police and the safety advisory board made the decision to postpone it, so they will be the ones to say if it can actually now go ahead.

Absolutely, yes im sure that will be the case. Team preparation wont come into, the club wont have a say in the decision. And im sure if the fixture can go ahead then the club will want it too.

Hope it doesn't go ahead. Worst game to have as our first/ only managerless one.

Sorry for those who have had to shift things around, but I can see it being a disaster with the turmoil of no coaching staff at all. Rather upset a few fans who can't make the rearranged time, than upset all the fans by losing to that lot.
