As shite as the Luton result was, I think it could probably be the last thing that Palace wanted 4 days before they play us.
We need a reaction, I've a feeling we'll get one
This.
We’ve not been particularly great since Dubai; Luton wanted that more than us. It was a full on wake up call, and I’ll include RDZ in that. All will be forgotten/forgiven if we get a result on Saturday, but put in another shit show performance like that…… which is why we won’t.
We must be due a bit of luck.

Il kick off with a yes if they have olise and eze fit and our current lightweight team availability and no midfield signing
Yes.

Try to stay serene. I know my words are wasted, but.... :lolol:

I’d like us to reassert ourselves in the league and get back into the top 6 or 7. For that reason, I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t win on Saturday. Nothing to do with Palace in particular, except that they’re yet another mid/lower table side we should be beating. I’ve never been very interested in the rivalry which has always struck me as a bit tinpot as rivalries go. I suppose a repeat of the embarrassing mass wailing and chest-beating on NSC is another reason to hope for an Albion win though at least I can just avoid the place for a while.

As someone said, perhaps it’s an age thing but I seem to get over most bad stuff quickly, compared to when I was a kid.
This. Boro, Massive, Orient, Palarse.... who gives a shit.

Palace had 4 shots on target on Tuesday night. If they can muster that sort of number again on Saturday then we're going to need to score at least 5 to win.

On that basis, should be a good game for those that are going.
Only if I can’t save a shot Steele is in goal.

Spoke to a very knowledgeable Palace fan yesterday who feels they'll be very lucky to get anything out of this game.

I tried to cheer him up by promising that they'll definitely score. But beyond that, I don't really know what to expect. Probably a draw.

This fixture used to give me a knot in my stomach but these days it's just another game that I want us to win, if I'm honest.
Did you congratulate him for his uniqueness?

(I know a few, to be fair. They regard all the A23 derby bollocks as bollocks)

No although Bart saved the other three on target
So you’ll be perfectly happy if he gives goal-scoring passes to Olise again if he makes some saves?

Can someone suggest a better rival? Most clubs rivalry stems from geography alone, Liverpool/Everton, City/United etc. Others throw in a bit of history, Liverpool/United, Leeds/Chelsea and others too. Who should be our big game? Pompey, further than Palace and played them rarely in the last 40 years, Soton are further again and have their own beef with the Skates, other London clubs all further than Palace, we have never played Crawley in a league game either. Maybe Wolves, we have a hoodoo over them, or Burnley as we do not like their fans? Maybe not.

Oh well, we could be like Charlton and have no one actually take any notice of us.

It's Ayew that always causes us grief, he is the engine, creates the chances.... shut him down and we have a decent chance....

Don't listen to those Muppets.... it's a proper rivalry, the closest geographically ( ignoring CTFC)...... underpinned by historic events of the 70s in particular.... I for one am hanging on to it, I love a result against that lot more than any other team, and always will.

It's about now that anyone you meet who knows you support Albion starts telling you:

"well of course Brighton V Palace is not a proper derby; how can it be a derby when you're 50 miles apart?"

To which I normally reply: "we don't claim it is a derby, it's an intense rivalry". Either that or "oh do f**k off..."
I’d say well it’s actually 46 miles and Norwich and Ipswich are respectively 44.7, if you’re counting!

going to buck the trend here and say yes. obviously a reaction is to be expected but looking at the team, i just don’t see how we cause them problems. no wingers again, so all they have to do is shut everything down centrally, which they can do well. someone said pedro was out? big problem if true. aside from groß i cannot see who can create anything for us or cause trouble.

and without veltman we are going to have a really hard time dealing with olise and eze. big issue is they have their difference-makers available and we don’t. and that’s before you even get into the fact that imo our midfield is still very weak.

a positive is that buonanotte looked very decent when he came on against them at selhurst, but overall i do not have high hopes for this one
