[Albion] Palace fans: questions they should ask themselves...

Should be lessons learnt to be honest.
Next time you ferry them in coaches only. They provide ID and they are given a ticket as they go in. Away section is made only accessible via the coach area via a police line. Works well for Burnley Blackburn games and should be adopted here to stop the “fairy” ultras who don’t have a ticket coming along.
You can pass the blame all you like and yes I think the police should of been a little more on the ball certainly as although it was clearly organised as 40/50 people just don’t t turn up by chance to a game without a ticket it was not exactly subtle they had the doors opened for them and they charged in.
As for passing the blame beyond that CPFC fans that missed the game should be looking at these so called fans. They may think it’s hard of clever to rush 6 stewards and force their way in but it’s their own fans who lost out not us. In all honesty their support was poor. More noise came from the away crowd on the St Patrick day massacre than that lot and I think a lot is to do with the fairies in black being complete bellends. In all honesty not 100% sure what they think they are. Meant to be a great support well their not that. Meant to be these big hard men. Well defi not that from the scenes of them running away all over the internet. Elisha wood will be shamed by their actions at times. From what I can tell a bunch of worthless pricks who enjoy the company of other worthless pricks trying to be big and clever but will no doubt end up banged up inside like the vermin they are where a there become a bitch for someone else

Just how many Albion fans were affected by the behaviour of the Palace thugs?

Personally I parked in the Mill Road P&R as normal - arrived at the stadium as normal - wandered up to the shop, bought fish and chips and then entered the lower East concourse - all without any kind of incident. I watched the match, heard the bangs and saw the smoke which didn’t cause me nor apparently anyone else around me any alarm.

I stayed to the end of the match, left the stadium as normal and joined the queue for the bus back to Mill Road - all without seeing any sort of incident.

I wonder if my experience was exceptional?

It would've been a bit different if you went by train but you're missing the point. The only people the Always Ultras affected were other Palace fans.

Hiding in Buddies all day, deliberately getting the final train they could and then storming the gate. These black hoodied mummy's boys are about as hard as a bowl of strawberry jelly without the setting agent.

If I'd been a Palace fan with a legitimate ticket, locked out due to them, I'd be having a little word over the next few games.

The whole thing is a pantomime now and the only thing the Always Ultras add to it is the confirmation that Palace really are the worst fans in London - and not in a Millwall way

That was my point - there appears to be an awful lot of moral outcry and concern for hardship suffered by some Palace fans.

Exactly the same for me, but from Mithras House

A quick trawl around BBS and Holmesdale fan forums shows that a certain number of NigeLLLLLLs are arguing that their Ultras were out-of-order for rushing the turn-styles, injuring stewards and getting their own fans locked-out, and for the pyrotechnics, but a very large proportion are saying it's all down to the police and BHAFC for getting EVERYTHING wrong.

Some points I agree with; this should have been a lunch-time weekend match, and some of those police drafted in are very heavy handed. But you Palace fans reading this have to ask yourselves:

+ why was a pack of masked youth scurrying around town scaring the housewives and pensioners from lunchtime onwards, but they only made it to the ground after KO?

+ why are they blaming the search routines for not finding the fireworks when obviously those who steamed-in avoided being searched?

+ why do the Palace fans complain about being kettled and being marched the long way up to the station when they insist on mobbing-up in the West Street pubs knowing full-well that the police will contain and escort them. Or do they like it because they can feel big in the perfect safety of that police escort?

+ why not just go to the AMEX in plenty of time, have a drink there and forget all the stupid posturing? I'm sure then that the Police wouldn't get so heavy handed and go so over-the-top after the match.

Well it's up to them, but if a large percentage of NigeLLLLLLs continue to act like stupid children making out that they are "invading" Brighton then all of them are going to get treated badly.

The police told the Palace fans to go to the Wetherspoons as it was the designated away pub.
They started moving the Palace fans off to the game around 6 ish, and gave them a guided tour of Brighton, they finally arrived at the Amex near kick off .
There was no ticket checks along the route to the Amex, so the police created a situation were hundreds of boozed up Palace fans arrived with minutes to spare,a recipe for disaster.
Surely if they arrived earlier, adequate ticket checks could have weeded out the ticketless Palace fans, and the situation could have been avoided.
Also the Brighton stadium manager stopped all admissions, ( as confirmed by Barber) but Palace fans were later admitted at half time.
Lessons to be learned by everyone .

Man up please

Nah I’ll leave that to Neanderthals like you, you will clearly never grow up

I am unashamed in my views that thuggery is not for me, and never was.

I hope you’ve booked up for the World Cup in Russia, then we’ll see just how hard you are.

It wasn't compulsory to go drinking in Brighton in the afternoon.
Palace have obviously played at the Amex before, so many fans would have known about an escort from West Street to the station. I'm sure the last time the escort didn't go straight up West St and Queens Rd to the station because of the problems the time before.

Went by train from Lewes, otherwise experience was the same as Creaky, although the stewarding of the Lewes queue after the game was ballsed right up - no-one stationed at the top on the bridge to keep the disabled line clear, so both lanes down the bridge were rammed - until of course someone decided that the final section should be a single lane, meaning the two went into one. A few poor souls with wheelchairs/sticks managed to fight their way along the lines.

I'm not sure most Palace fans have any questions to ask themselves as they are regular fans like you and I who just want to go and support their football team. They were born in or around Croydon so wear red and blue, whereas those of us brought up in Sussex wear blue and white.

What they do need to do is stop moaning about the Amex not being fit for purpose, both in terms of location and facilities. It's hosted 150 or so games, many of which were high-profile with sizeable crowds including some relatively notorious away followings. That includes Palace themselves several times, of course. Additionally it's hosted international football and the Rugby World Cup. It would not be selected for these if it was some sort of sub-standard facility.

Fans of numerous clubs have praised the facilities at the Amex, the general setup and the great football experience it offers. Either they are all wrong or one set of fans, who had not made the same complaints on previous visits, are wrong. Which do you think it is likely to be?

The Amex does have slightly unusual transport links with almost no parking, certainly none available on the day, and a heavy reliance on the train. Those of us who have been using it 20+ times a year know how to deal with that and we do, game in and game out. A game against Palace clearly throws up special challenges around transport that needs careful managing.

I've not asked, but I would guess there was no intention for the Palace fans to get to the stadium area so late, and I would also guess that the reason they did was the general unrest around the station and the volume of Albion fans still awaiting trains. There's little point moving a load of Palace fans into the station until there is a train ready to take them to the Amex as having a large group there at the same time as a load of Albion fans is only going to end one way.

I don't know if reports are made public after incidents like this - I would so for the sake of transparency, although it's clear that a number of people, including many Palace fans, have already decided the police will just be making stuff up to cover their own arses.

Fortunately many decent Palace fans do recognise the issues were caused by a small number of their own, and would like that group removed from their supporter base.

I along with the majority of the Palace fans were disgusted by the behaviour of a few morons, and we all know who they are, at the game on Tuesday.

Apart from their dangerous and unacceptable behaviour at the turnstiles, they forcibly evicted fellow fans from their seats behind the goal having set off flares at the back which sent smoke into the boxes above. When we were held in the concourse after the match, they thought it funny to lob bangers onto the fans near the shutters. They have no respect for anybody and think they are the official fan club, they are not!

With the current terrorist threat it is both a thoughtless and criminal act. So please don't associate all the Palace fans with this behaviour, it has happened before eg at Wembley v Spurs, we like you love the banter and intensity of these fixtures and long may that continue.

I would also like the positive side of our rivalry to be given more press coverage. The REMF game is a superb initiative and it is a pleasure to attend these games for such a good cause, it deserves national coverage. Like Brighton, most of our fans are decent and well behaved but their fireworks killed the atmosphere.

Well said Sir, I wish a few more of your supporters shared your sensible view.

The most sickening thing is any palace fans trying to blame the albion.

They need to have a good look at the ultras in their own support first.

But the fans who weren't let in with tickets I do have every sympathy with.
