Any others you would like to remove from the Premier League? What makes Brentford and Fulham so special? Have you been to Craven Cottage? Are you likely to get into Brentford's new ground? Maybe there should be some new criteria for premier league membership. Shiny new ground, tiki taki football, neutral shirts, fans that dress in suits etc, and clap politely, wealthy owners. Any other suggestions?

There is nothing "old school" or special about your ground and I've visited countless times. There are still a number of original grounds (Vicarage Road, Craven Cottage, Turf Moor) that are miles away from the rank cesspit that is Selhurst park.

Whilst each have modernised (yet kept their character), Selhurst park exists as a monument to numerous architectural mistakes over a number of decades.

In fashion terms it is a dystopian hipster car crash of moth eaten flared trousers, leg warmers and Victorian workhouse horsehair chic.

Who would want him?

Any team in this country with the ability to win a major trophy, already has better players, in this I include the traditional top four, Leicester,and Spurs. He doesn’t strike me as a Benitez type player, Arteta already has a show pony in Pepe, and him and Bielsa would be comedy gold. Villa is a possibility, unlikely, but still a possibility.
I can’t see any other team in England actually winning a trophy worth winning. So, he’d have to move abroad to win anything, I can’t see many teams paying his extortionate wages apart from the European super teams, but, as in this country, they have better options.

Thanks again for the advice Sheebo. Sorry if you dont like me referring to mr Bloom as a sugar daddy, rather than a billionaire life long fan. You did have a ground, but previous owners sold it from under you. Not sure why I would think we were in your shadow. You may have access to more money at the moment, and not be reliant on dodgy American business owners who may or may not have ring fenced 100million for an upgraded new stand. Apparently the delay is around persuading Sainsburys to sell some of the land they own. Weren't there similar delays before the Amex was built? However, I believe we have finished above you for many seasons now, and the one season we didnt, the play offs sorted that out.

Thing is, Palace fans have to try and push this narrative of the mega bucks owner to make themselves feel better. The reality that our owner is a lifelong fan, who with the previous owner and our fans fought tooth and nail for well over a decade to save this club and bring it to falmer is too much to face up to. Particularly when, over the years, they have been nowhere to be seen in trying to sort out the mess of their club. And if things go tits up again, guaranteed you won't hear a peep in protest from them.

Parish, Browett, Hoskins and the other one I forget, that bought the club in 2010, were reluctant investors, and supporters first. They always said that they invested as a last resort as they couldnt bear to see Palace go under. Only Parish remains on the board now, along with three Americans, who are probably looking to eventually make a profit.
My understanding is that Mr Bloom is a lifelong fan who has invested many millions into Brighton, on an interest free loan basis, with the likelihood it will never be called in. This is different to our current owners who, rightly or wrongly, have not made the same investment, and in some cases are taking a salary from the club.
Jealous? Not really. As I said before I would not want to support a megabucks club in a soulless stadium in the middle of nowhere. I quite like the fact that Selhurst is falling apart at the seams. I dont go for comfort, for fine dining, for perfect views, or a lovely surrounding area with on site parking, retail options etc. I go because it where my team plays, in surburbia, surrounded by terraced housing, with street parking only, but with 3 train stations within 10 minutes walk, and I wouldnt want it any other way. I dont want comfy seats, I want to stand up and move around if my view is obstructed.

It’s massively annoying but you’ve got us there. That’s why my targets are for this season are (in order of priority)

1 Finish above you lot
2 Get to Christmas not looking over our shoulder too much
3 Hit 40 points nice and early and relax
4 Anything beyond that will be supremely funky

Maybe it is small club mentality (OK, it totally is) but even finishing 19th would be tolerable if the Croydon gang were 20th. I’m cautiously optimistic that our sights are a little higher this year but let’s not go mad.

Obviously, I would prefer the opposite, and if I was offered 17th now, I would take it. (well actually 16th with you in 17th, as I enjoy the rivalry of us being in the same league)

From my perspective I don’t find the Amex soulless. I don’t much like the hassle of getting to and from it in truth, I definitely preferred the location of the Goldstone. Just very very grateful to have a 30k plus stadium though.

I’m amazed anybody wouldn’t be jealous of our owner, as we really have struck gold finding somebody who was always a supporter and has deep enough pockets to build foundations for the future. I honestly think anybody saying they wouldn’t want that for their team is probably lying to themselves, even if they haven’t worked that out yet.

The ground? Well we can all have a good chat about that.

Things I like about the Amex include the comfy seat, the superb view from every seat, the way it curves in harmony with the Downs around it, the availability of Harvey’s, fine pies and the fact that when we’ve really got our game going it absolutely rocks in there.

Things I’m not fond of? The car parking, as I’m not local and it’s a three train trip otherwise. The lack of safe standing but that’s nothing to do with us and is out of our control.

The thing I’d say to our Palace correspondent is to remember that we lost our home. We went to Gillingham. We went to Withdean. After that we desperately wanted our own home. We fought so hard to get it that we shall always cherish it. To us, it’s a… well… palace.

Selhurst Park IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.

It's an out of town football stadium.

It's hardly an old school ground either. Two ends have been badly added to over time, unless you consider the bolt on of Sainsburys a sensitive addition to Archibald Leitch's original vision.

Selhurst park is a rundown dump. That is not said out of spite, it’s because it has been allowed to fall into disrepair due to the negligence of various owners. Being old and knackered doesn’t constitute having a soul, it just means old and knackered ….
