This. Most Palace fans like Roy but I think they're all waiting for Smug Eddie to do a rebuilding job, tough ask and risky move for Eddie if you ask me.

The Smugster would be a good fit - but not something I'd like to see as I think he's a decent manager (despite having such a punchable face).

With Mr Tumble being 28/29 ish, has he missed his move to a big club now?

When Roy does decide to put his feet up, Palace may have a real problem replacing him. Frank DeBoer was brought in to implement a change of direction for them, to play a more possession version of the game than that which they had been playing. He lasted 4 games before they panicked and pulled the trigger. Admittedly, he was pretty awful, but, he wasn’t backed in the transfer market, and to get his appointment so spectacularly wrong is very impressive.
Young up and coming managers will see that, and maybe think twice about their board backing them if things get tough.

I must admit I feel better they are investing in the academy and the training complex rather than build a new stand with all the money...Plant the acorn and the tree will appear.

And even if we do go down the academy should start bearing its own shoots. One of things I haven't enjoyed ( Mind you there i s a list) is not seeing players from our academy being played, there is something to us fans quite satisfying to watch a young player play themselves up the ranks to the first team....or call me old fashioned.
This talk of the academy is funny. It's as if you think that now you have Cat 1 status, you can now start producing talent.

In the real world, after 6 years of ours being open, we are now producing talent and the future is looking good.

Not really sure what you mean, Palace have always had a great academy, its just when a couple of years ago they were categorized Palace missed out because of the infrastructure, they are now getting that side ready.

In the last few years we have produced a few from Cat 2...Wan-Bissaka and Mitchell who are both playing in the top tier.

So to your point Palace are not starting from scratch it was already there and producing.

Yes but we started from scratch and we have White, Sanchez, Alzate, Connolly to name a few with a 2/3 more in the pipeline. You could even had Dunk to that list.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the shoots appear when you are in the Championship

Not being funny but most if not all clubs can point to 3 or 4 academy players in their 25 and also point to 3 or 4 in the pipeline its not solely a Brighton thing.

Anyway what ever division we play in does not stop me supporting, christ I have seen them in 3 different tiers and I cant say I supported them less...apart from a couple of seasons when P.Taylor was manager that was pretty hard work.

That's in the match day 18, not squad for the record.

Can you point me to these teams as I'm quite interested.

Is it hard work watching Royball at the moment?!

Naylor hinting today that Zaha's hamstring injury could see him out for a few weeks. We play them on the 22nd...

No I cant, but I cant believe Palace with Mitchell, woods, Zaha, Clyne,Perrick and a couple of others that have gone out on loan last week and Brighton with the players mentioned are the only two clubs that can name 3 or 4 players from the academy in the match day squad.. ( Idont take that much notice if I am honest)

Royball, Sometimes great sometimes not so great but not as bad as you like to think.

In a way Palace may strike lucky in so far as they free up a lot of wage budget at a time were there will be a lot of bargains and lower wage demands in the market because of Covid. Danger for them of course is they still have to select the right players and that will be made more difficult if they don't have their new manager in place assuming Old boy Roy doesn't want another 12 months...

Lot of scope for disaster there though (fingers crossed) especially with a disinterested board, no manager in place, star player wants out, new mega stand needs paying for, half the squad out of contract, covid, lack of money etc etc.

Interesting summer for Prince Charming and the ugly sisters...

Brighton factually.....

Ideally he comes back just in time, runs down the wing, pulls up as he feels a tweak and has to be replaced after 2minutes.
Thus upsetting the starting line up, and hopefully upsetting palarses flow.....

Zahahaha fits that pantomime villain perfectly, he gets it, and unfortunately seems to play well against us.
I love the games against palarse, it’s what we live for.....

He always lifts his game against us, but he's mentally vulnerable and we'll nail him

Shame we have Solly out and so many out. I think 8 first readers were missing v Liverpool. Palace have no such injury woes - always happens when we play them - so lucky. Although at least the 6 points can’t be repeated after the battering 1-1 draw - let’s hope we get a non penalty to even things up and VAR just shrugs...

Still far more injuries than them as per. Every season it happens but let’s see... Just keep playing the way we have and we’ll have a chance at least. Unfortunately the win doesn’t always go to the best footballing side - as we proved in the away game as that would’ve been awarded 14-0 to us - maybe 15-0 depending on the third judge.
