Parish must think that either a. Newcastle will up their bid and try a fifth time, or b. Marc will sign a new contract with a pay rise and a release clause if he doesn't get to move.

Newcastle are definitely a step up from Palace, but I'm not convinced they're his ceiling. Perhaps in 6/12 months time, the likes of Liverpool or Arsenal might be interested.

i think its good that palace are sticking to their valuation (as we did ). Its time the big money clubs learned that they cant just have it their way, and that they need to pay what the selling club wants, rather than expect clubs like Brighton, Palace, Brentford to roll over and say thank you for asset stripping us we will take whatever you think is right

Tony standing firm for Caceido, Cucurella etc has made this summers fantastic transfer window possible, and its a delight to see Chelsea fans not understanding that they have paid for it all

If nobody buys him, that suits Palace just fine. We've got no need to sell & we'd love to keep him. He has another three years on his contract, so that's not a problem.

As for why someone might still want to buy him after his buyout clause expired, it's common knowledge that City have been interested in him for a while & Oscar Bobb has just suffered a long term injury. The terms of the clause will have been off putting as well - we wanted £50m+ up front on day one.
