I love the fact they keep banging on about 2013 and how it must still hurt for us.

Have they not seen the progression we have made or is it wishful thinking we still hurt?
Mad isnt it - that hurt for a while because that was their chance to pull away from us. Those extra years of PL revenue, being able to attract better players, establish them selves and not look back. That was why it was such a blow.

Instead they chucked it all at awful greedy talentless players. Chasing the names they heard of rather than players that would improve them. Their incompetence and fuckwitedness is wonderful to witness.

So now it doesn't hurt at all, it just makes this period all the more pleasing.

When they bring up an event from 10 years ago as some sort of superiority stick, then you know that our current success has really provoked them. Ditto when they claim Palace were the first away team to win at the Amex.

I don't think we'd have thrived in the same way that we have if we'd gone up in 2013. The 2017 promotion squad was so much stronger, the core of which was good enough to get us through the first 2-3 seasons.

We definitely have far more in common with Palace and Palace fans than teams like Chelsea and their hoardes of armchair warriors.

The African-based Chelsea fans have been particularly tiresome on social media this season. Although it's perplexing that they are all over the official BHA Twitter every pre-match crowing that we're going to get 'cooked', despite the fact that they have been a disaster so far having won 1 PL game out of 6, and that was against Luton so doesn't really count.

We even seem to have triggered the African ManU contingent this week as well telling us Bournmouth are 'cooking' us yesterday morning, seemingly oblivious to the fact that we comprehensively beat them on their own turf last week for the 4th PL match in a row!
This. We love good natured banter with Palace fans, but in the real world, I know quite a few Palace fans and they are all decent people. I also know a few Chelsea fans, and I can't say the same about them.

100% this, I have family and friends (yes, been discussed so many times on here) who are huge Palace fans and I have taken stick for years, but boy am I enjoying it now. Am I going to ease off, not a f*&^ing chance, my Son bites like a hungry pike, much to the amusement of the rest of the family on both sides. I love them all, and many of my Palace friends I just think some on here have a strange outlook on life. (and on the Palace groups I'm sure). Big love, keep the appropriate banter going and don't take life too seriously.
They don’t, the just get provoked to reply by trolls or they just write stuff to provoke for the fun of it - it’s not real life on here is it..!

Well for me I can start to relish the demise of what I class as my real hate team, and forget the sort of forced rivalry of palace / Brighton. ( he says through gritted teeth while having his tongue firmly in his cheek )

Chelsea , a team / fans and owners that by rights should be everyone’s hate team , a club with no redeeming features. I can talk football with most fans but if I hear a Chelsea fan talk about football I walk away.

I don’t think any FOOTBALL fan can begrudge what Brighton have accomplished, it may stick in the craw but is undoubtedly pretty impressive.

And as for yesterday game v Fulham, IMHO both teams should have a point deduction for wasting 6 hours of my day a sunny day to watch two fat bald men fight over a comb.
The feeling that some folk seem, and it's only some, to think being rivals with Palace is beneath us rather irks me. It's what I was hoping wouldn't happen. But it is only some, a small number.

I've never hated Palace. It is an enjoyable pantomime rivalry that has endured. I don't think I would like a rivalry that is based on proper hatred. After all, hatred is inherited generally, certainly historical hatred. If a youngster watching either team now had not heard of the rivalry would they naturally graduate to it ? They wouldn't. Certainly losing to Palace hurts, I allow myself that, but no more than a little annoyance.

It's interesting you mention Chelsea. I LOVE to see them lose. These reasons are not inherited, but linked to what we have seen there for the last few seasons. I don't want Chelsea to beat Palace, I don't want them to beat anyone. They are not 'rivals' and never will be. I don't consider them as such. They are just an anti-football annoyance.

I've always respected Palace as a proper football club in many contexts. That is why I like the rivalry. And for the actual good it has achieved, such as REMF.

It’s actually how I talk to palace mates (who I have more respect for then any top 6 ‘fan’ and they do me). The problem here is nsc and poster obsessed Doogle and the postcode prat. That just makes this threads a binfest. Loz is decent and clearly a nice fella so fair play.
Thank god for specimens like Doogle and postcode I say. If all Palace fans were like loz, I wouldn't be able to hate their scummy club.

Anyone needing a laugh then read this.

This is a good one:

'Star lizard obviously provides both intelligence and finance to move them up. However we have got shareholders with far deeper pockets who may be doing more than we realise. We are also led by a Palace fan who has easily the same lev l of football knowledge as Bloom. Who knows, maybe we are also a client of the Star Lizard data room'

LOLS. As if Star Lizard is going to sell data (or more importantly the output) to anyone other than BHA or Union St Gilloise? Not having exclusivity on that would make it almost worthless.

I know Brighton fans like to be liked but where’s the fun in that?
I like to give you different perspectives and to provoke debate .

Obviously we have a rivalry with Palace but at least I vaguely respect them as a club.

I can't find anything to respect about Palace. I respect that their fans support their local club, as opposed to a big 6 club, and that's it. The fans are homophobic hypocrites and the club itself is a disgrace. Obviously they have a dislikeable penchant for admin, but there's so much more: like making out that it was our club that had shat all over the changing rooms, kicking their own fans out of their seats for a bunch of twats in black, and this latest embarrassment of pretending they're the oldest football club. They have zero integrity and are scum top to bottom.

Chelsea have nothing likable about them whatsoever
That is also true.

loz deserves so much better than Palace

Palace through and through, Nan lived 200 yards from the ground. When I stayed the weekend I used to look out the window at the lights blazing away and once she walked me to the ground with about 10 minutes left and the gates were open, I stood there wide eyed looking at the emerald green grass under the bright lights….that was it from about 1969, the year palace were promoted to the first division for the first time ( was I a 5 year old glory hunter ?)

Lived in Sussex since the mid 80s so have many Brighton mates, must admit I try and talk cricket to them now 😁

That's the same contingent who were all over our team news vs United with "We're going to win 5-0", Fernandes is going to cook this team" etc etc. So, so, tiresome
