Very much this. The way he has been managed has been terrible.

The things people complain about: such as his attempting something overly ambitious, or going the other way and being too cautious, or not being match fit, are possibly a result of how he's been treated. Hyypia's banging on about McCourt's defensive play sounded like Ian Branfoot trying to turn LeTissier into a box to box grafter.

We are not overly blessed with creative players. He needs to be given a starting run of about five games.
