= 3 points to them.

West Ham and AEK knew it.

We might be in bother if teams decide to play that way when they are at home. I wonder if RDZ will ever consider tweaking his possession game, because it's not a secret anymore that this is the way to win if your team can defend and attack with speed.

Similarities maybe, but still a bit more nuanced than that.

Our defending was piss poor, with better defending most if not all our their goals are avoided.

We were also very ponderous in attack, often 1 pass too many, ridiculous short corners or free kicks that wasted opportunities or ended in AEK breaks.

Playing Fati and Igor (who were both quite poor) in first games for what was on paper our best chance to win (home game v lowest ranked), in retrospect may be deemed an error.

We lacked fluidity, individuals had off nights or were poor, we defended badly and over complicated in final third.

But we had the beating of them last night.

Onwards/upwards. The Ajax/Marseille draw was good for us and you'd assume Marseille at home won't park bus, Dunk will be back, which was also a big part of why were shit defensively last night!

Yes, there is a clear way of playing against us.

But for Athens as well as West Ham, a huge amount has to go right to make that work.

At the moment teams have to have very very few attacks to score against us

Two of the goals by Eek! Athens were absolute flukes when you look closely at them, deflections, rebounds and miskicks galore.

Let’s be honest, we’ve prioritised trying to beat Bournemouth in the league. They were a little fortunate with a couple of their goals and if Pedro had squared to Mitoma at 2:2 then we’d still have probably won, despite giving full debuts to two players. There are still five European nights left to put things right. Onwards and upwards. UTA.

That was how Luton played as well, they just didn't defend well enough - fortunately

Sometimes this will happen. Other times our passing will be a little more effective. We can stretch that packed defence with quicker passing to the wide areas. TBF this was happening last night and would have been praised had we not conceded a couple of soft goals. I think with post match summaries people tend to start with the result then backfill the possible gaps with reasons.

And yet we equalised twice.

If we are built to play with a lead, why do we play like that from the outset when the score is 0-0?
Yeah…… equalise before they score

Tho it's absolutely tremendous to - YES!! - Pose A Threat In The Final Third, and the midfield seems to be coping fairly well with the loss of Macca and Caicedo, our Achilles Heel is clearly now in defence. Colwill would 'of' set us up with a solid base for the next ten years, but sadly it wasn't to be. Dunk 2.0 has yet to be signed
