Owusu in the Argus

Just read Owusu's article in the Argus. Reading between the lines, he's trying to convince the Albion in to giving him a deal, but doesn't want to be third or fourth choice. Plus he has had a 2 year offer to play in Oz.

I have to say, if Forster & Murray are fit and Davies can find some form, I'm not sure we should bust a gut to keep Owusu. No doubt his goals helped save us, but at the moment I would trust Big Russ to get another goal scorer. I would imagine Owusu would be on a decent wage, especially as Cheltenham say they can't afford to keep him.

I just feel the way things are at the moment financially, there will be a bigger than ever pool of out of contract players to choose from during the close season.

Agreed.

Would still prefer Murray and Forster upfront, and I hope Davies gets a decent pre-season behind him and he can push for a regular place in the first team.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind having Owusu as backup.

He is trying to set up a deal , playing one club off against another , similar to what Burchall did when MA gave him a contract until the end of the season.

if he does get given a contract he is going to have to deal with being third choice at best tbh, but im not sure forster will last the whole season

Well if fozzy and Murray continue to be unfit then he will get plenty of games.

And if they dont... he has to deal with being 3-4'th choice, and you could understand him wanting to leave especially at this stage of his career where he needs to make the most of his time:wave:

Give him a one-year deal. No harm done, the Albion fans love him and the majority want him to stay.

Indeed I would agree, but he has been offered a 2 year deal for Adelaide so he wont be accepting a 1 Year deal from us, a 2 year deal at the time in his career is a long one and will provide more stability for his family.

It all depends really on whether or not he wants to move to Australia or not, I think he is too young in his career to do that. The quality of football in L1 is better than that on offer in the A-League (or so we're told anyway).

Assuming that Forster and Murray stay fit then not sure we need Owusu but will they both last the whole season? If not then who to replace? Personally think Murray is class but question his fitness.

Why is he regarded as third or fourth choice? Our players should be picked on form, not on reputation.

For me, Murray runs hot and cold, he tends to score in patches. Forster is getting on, both have been prone to injuries this year. However, people tend to be injured more, and need more time off to recover during bad runs, perhaps if we'd been at the top end of the table all season, Forster and Murray would have been fit more often (look how much they both fought to be fit towards the end of the season, after we found some form on the backs of hart and owusu).

I could easily see forster and owusu sharing their spot, given their ages, or the three of them sharing the two spots because of a combination of injuries, form and age.

Or maybe we could have a three man attack, really go for it next year.

Based on this season, I think I'd prefer the fighting, hard working, inspiring spirit of owusu to Murray, who I don't hate, I'm just not as excited about as other fans are, I don't get the feeling that apparently so many others do that any time he's on the ball something could happen.
