Fence for me. It's probably a ridiculous signing, but there is a chance it could be deal of the century. If Owen gets fit and still has the desire it could be a great move. No fee involved either, so the risk is low.

Somewhere between the two options. Impact sub, if fit, will work. If he starts more than two meaningfull consecutive games all season I will be amazed, he also needs to stay fit for two consecutive games which reduces the odds even further. If it all goes tits up it will have been a relatively cheap gamble by United so why not try it?

Low risk maybe as there isn't a fee involved, but with the likes of Hargreaves at the club already who himself could hardly be described as free from injury at the best of times, they are placing a big burden on the clubs medical service...who knows, Sir Alex has a knack of bringing the best out of players, maybe we will be thanking him come the World Cup next summer...if Owen can remain fit!

Exactly, also if it does go tits up Fergie can always redeploy him at his Cheshire mansion as one of those Victorian chimney sweep kids.

I suppose it is worth it in a way, just to see the reactions of the Scousers when (if) he turns out for United against them at Anfield.

No-brainer IMO
Even when not fit and in a team that couldnt pass or cross the ball he scored 1 in 2.
No fee - relatively low salary one suspects.
I predict he will play more than people think and score 10 goals minimum (which would be more than Tevez?).

If so it will be a cracking bit of business.

Apparently the main reason United pushed for the signing was because they had some Gary Neville kit that had shrunk in the wash and they didn't want it to go to waste.

I think he will do well, and its a good bit of buisiness. If Owen can stay injury free, he could force his way back into the england team. I can just picture the scene, Man U V Liverpool at anfield next season and its 1-1 in injury time, and who will score the winner infront of the Kop?

I hav'nt voted for this one because i am sitting firmly on the fence...i think it could go either was. The duries out with Owen for me, but he just may re-kindle some of the form shown in his earlier days givven the strength of his playing patners.

How soon is now?
Its a cracking bit of business for both player and club. Real madrid and Man City splashing the cash around have upped the transfer prices again(as per a few years back), and because Ferguson has £80m to play with everybody is trying to take him for a ride. He nips in and get a world class(when he's fully fit) striker for nowt, and probably on a basic wage with goal based add ons. I've stuck £10 on him being the Premier Lge top scorer next season, the odds are great for a player like him, and with the exception of Arsenal who score most of their goals from within 12 yards I think he's at a club where it can happen.
I expect i've wasted a tenner, but at 25-1 I think its worth a punt

Love him or hate him, Ferguson gets it right more than he gets in wrong.

Also, playing for United may resurrect his England career in time for next year's World Cup.

Well worth the punt in my opinion. He's taken a huge wage cut and is desperate to prove his doubters wrong. If they can get 20 odd games out of him next season he'll get you 10 goals. It's not the big money signing people were expecting, but its a very shrewd bit of business by Fergie

if he stays fit and bangs in a dozen goals or more then its a winner.
if he is no fitter than last couple of season, they'll still get half 6-10 out of him for 50k/wk (reportedly), bit expensive but there are less efficent signing out there.

with a proper team around him and presumably one of the best training faciilities/schedules around i really cant see how this will be bad. too many people are judging by form at a comedy club, which even then wasnt too bad with him scoring as many as Tim Cahill and only one less than Defoe in the league.

I'm amazed Arsenal didn't come for him, can only assume Wenger is happy that Eduardo is fully recovered because as others have said, he's precisley the type of player who will score the 10 yard tap ins they currently create and miss!

Unfortunately I think he will do very well at United
