Bringing his wife's suicide into it is particularly low. I'm sure it's been a very difficult time for him, and I'm sure she was affected by the investigation. But the investigators aren't to blame for that, there wouldn't be an investigation if he didn't break the rules (which he either did knowingly, or ignorantly - neither of which is acceptable as an MP)

I cannot condone vandalism against Tory offices. I would say that even the West Worthing Conservatives " Office " in Tarring Road has had metal shutters and a camera up outside for several years.... The only one along the road?

Do Tory members and politicians ever wonder why these sort of attacks happen despite them firmly believing that they have the best interests of the whole of our society at heart?

Not only is Patterson a crook, he is a thick crook.

A 30 day suspension for corruptly obtaining hundreds of thousands of pounds. Anybody with any sense would have shut up, accepted the minor slap on the wrist, and thought to themselves "**** me, got off light there".

A bit like you get pulled over by old bill for being a little bit naughty. The cop wants to give you "words of advice" and a roadside warning. Instead of saying "sorry" you shout and swear at the OB claiming you have done absolutely nothing wrong, so the cop gives you 3 points and a fine. Patterson is THAT stupid.

How many of us have employers who would merely suspend us for 30 days if we had done side deals with customers / clients that had earned us a small fortune?

Playing the sympathy card at this late stage just makes Patterson even more stupid. Claiming the investigation contributed to his wife's suicide is a nonsense. If he hadn't been corrupt, there would never have been an investigation.

Corrupt AND stupid. But let's face it, he isn't the only one. Made in Johnson's image.

It’s also highlighted the episode to voters in his constituency, making it more likely that the threshold of 10% of voters signing the recall petition will be reached during the 6 week period.

I can currently find one news report of an MPs office being vandalised.

Peter Bone's office had "Tory sleaze" sprayed on it after he voted to let his pal Patterson off the hook yesterday.

Just to clarify, No:10 made this issue a three-line whip - eg. A strict instruction to attend and vote according to the party’s position.

Yup and I heard on the radio this morning that Michael Gove's parliamentary secretary has been sacked for not voting in line with the whip.

All that will happen is that Johnson will bring in a new amendment that is more palatable to the public and Tory MP'S which will hide some of the more corrupt get outs deep within the wording.

Tory MP'S will then be encouraged to support it and the frighteners will be put on those few more liberal Tory's who may be dithering.... It will pass with a majority of 60-70 and the Tory shit show rolls on as before.
