"Sven-Goran Eriksson is pondering using three strikers at Old Trafford - with Wayne Rooney playing just behind Defoe and Michael Owen up front." - BBC News Online

that answers that one then, Svenwont ever drop Owen and feels he has to bow to pressure and play Defoe...so he says he might play BOTH....f***ing idiot :shootself My faith in the bloke is deminishing by the hour :nono:

why should he change the formation so he doesnt have to drop one of his favourites?
would he change it if defoe was out of form? no he would just drop him

Maybe he is not convinced that Defoe is not good enough.

Also Rooney has played in that position behind the front 2 in the past (Macedonia away second half and Leichenstien at home). With Gerrard out it sort of makes sense, play Beckham, Lampard and one of Butt or Cole in the midfield and Rooney in front of them.

Finally having that much pace up front against a Welsh defence that as a whole does not play top flight football might just be a master stroke.

I would like to see Hargreaves in front of the back four.

:)

The movement behind Owen and Defoe could be quite spectacular tomorrow if Rooney and Lamps get involved. Ireckon we're gonna give the Welshies a right SPANKING.

hargreaves is very under rated

Hargreaves sadly will not get the recognition until he is playing in England, why is sad as the best thing for him is learn his trade elsewhere, but if he is not in the media eye, they will not talk him up.

However I would play Butt tomorrow, as it could be a fairly physical game and the back 4 may need a destroyer in front of them.

So who is it to be ?

Until the last couple of days i would have said Defoe.

However I really think Owen should be given the nod, i just feel that he wont let us down and is desperate to play and prove a point in this one.

How about the Defoe Owen with Rooney behind combination? The Sheep Shaggers won't know what hit them!:)

I'd start with Owen. His record is fantastic for England. If it's not working after 65 minutes, bring Defoe on. Rooney starts obviously but I'd go 4-4-2 to begin with.

thats because he left you for west ham tho

For all of about £500 in the contract

We offered him £13k to stay with us which was a f***ing lot of money to us then. West Ham decided they would offer him £13,500 so he joined them.

We take them to tribunal where they value him at £1.5 million. three years later they rect bids of about £7-8 million.

How f***ing wrong is that :censored:
