Is he Sven's bitch or what ?. ( allegedley)

I fear we are going to see more of this completely inept player in both group and knockout stages when clearly he is not a player of international qualities.

Does Sven get a wood or something when he sees Hargreaves running around looking clueless ?. He cannot pass, tackle or read the game at all. With him in the side i'm afraid our World Cup dreams are going to falter miserably.

I don't think i'm being harsh ! Am I ?

I was discussing this on saturday and there was a very interesting point made.

Hargreaves is a regular starter for one of Europes top teams, so therefore one would assume he can't be THAT shit.

So do we blame Sven for his performances, does he go onto the pitch without any idea what Sven wants from him ?

Do any of the England players actually look half the player they are when they play for their club ?

While he's never really turned it on for England, he's highly rated by those who watch him regulary.

I do think there wouldn't be so much venom against him if he played in the Prem.

Gerrard and Lampard can basicly do what they want for Club thats why they look so could - you cant have that tactic at international level.

Yes, I too am surprised by his string of dodgy appearances, his mis-kick at the end of the Paraguay match was a worrying example.

I dont know if he's playing out of position, or is lacking in confidence, or was too hot, or he is just plain crap.

Maybe Bayern Munich keep picking him so that Sven will pick him for England, thus improving Germany's World Cup ambitions

I agree Tricky, he's done nothing wrong, and played better than some of the other players out there on the day, and again hasn't been given the best opportunity, but got thrown on near the end of a dire match

Perhaps he plays a different type of game in Germany than over here in England. And because of that, he never really gels the team or the patern of play the rest of the squad are used to playing week in week out !

I do think it may be down to Sven nearly always starting with our strongest side in friendly games.

Maybe if he started a few new faces it would help the team gel?

Then again the media would only pan him for not taking meaningless friendly games seriously.

personally thought he did well when he came on.

Apart from one glaring miskick, I thought he did ok too, but he only got 8 mins or so. It was at a time when the defence needed help as we were defending too deep inviting them to come on to us.

His job was to shore up the defence, i think he did it very well.
Apparently our defenders have been complaining that they're not getting enough support from the midfield and whatever the tabloids say Hargreaves is the only world-class defensive midfielder we have.
If the heat is gonna stay the same for the T'n'T game i'd swap Gerrard for Hargreaves and try and shore up the defence and keep the ball better and then we can bring on Gerrard if we need and he'll be fresh

good point KEaton, Hargreaves is fit and pretty quick, good at harrying and regaining possession so that makes sense to me, as long as he can link up with the more constructive players and release them then its a winning possibility, rather than some others getting in each others way !

The thing is, how many full games has Hargreaves actually had in his favoured position? The vast majority of his caps seem to have come when he's been thrown on with ten minutes to go, when he has a specific job to do. When he's played from the start, he's been fine; he's certainly been no worse than Gerrard.

Really? Gerrard was probably MOM 1st half, remind me when Hargreaves was even close to MOM for even 5 mins?
