1 good tournament for England does not make him a great player. He isn't of the same quality of many of our english Midfielders and has never played regularly in the premiership. He's nothing on Parker in a defensive role

ppfftt, I'd have a fully fit Owen Hargreaves over a fully fit Parker any day of the week.

Can you imagine all the 'get rid' merchants laying into him on here if he missed a match though.

The irony here being Parker has never been in an international tournament, or won anything - compared to Hargreaves 2 Champions league titles, and 5 league titles!!

Parker is astonishingly overrated. He'll be found out in the summer (unfortunately)...

His pay as you play deal would be sickingly expensive.

For a defensive midfielder i honestly wouldn't bother.

With Vicente it's different as he is an IMPACT player. Hargreaves is not a player to come on and grab two goals. He keeps the game ticking (well well, mind).

For a player of Hargreaves quality you'd be a fool(assuming it was affordable) not to. He'd dominate midfield, stiffening the spine of the team, giving the defence excellent protection and providing the platform for Vicente and all the attacking players to go for it. A fit Hargreaves and Vicente in our midfield would put us in the top six regardless of whether we signed another striker or keeper.

Who knows what he'd ask for, the guy has had his career ripped from him in his prime. I doubt money is an issue at all at this stage, he may, like Vicente just want to enjoy the game once again. I don't think he's in any position to be demanding massive money, Brighton would be perfect for him under a great coaching and medical team playing football he'd enjoy.

Hargreaves offered to play for United for free before he was released as he just wanted to play football. He was on a massive contract there, I'm sure he wouldn't need much convincing to come and play football down here. Look at Vicente, out forever at Valencia but got a good handful of games here. I'm sure he could do the same if reasonable. However, I think the money could be better spent elsewhere.

Absolutely.... and we do a good line in rehabilitating and refurbishing international quality midfielders who are seemingly past their sell by date according to those who have let them go.
