NSC's Most Stalked
a back up left back

We stopped off at Reading on the way home, and ended up in a pub with loads of Sunthorpe fans. They said McNulty was brilliant on Saturday, and reckon they got the better deal out of Sparrow and McNulty.

Shame we couldnt keep Jimmy Mac too, but Painter was almost faultless on Saturday too.

They also said that Sparrow was a bit too inconsistent and sluggish at Championship level, but we'll cross that bridge if we get there

Painter is possibly the BEST left back I've ever seen for the Albion.

Painter just seems so, so solid. Must admit I said at the time that he and Calde will be the best signings we make as we know what we're getting from them... Seems about right.

He made two tackles and dribbled the ball out of play. In fairness, he wasn't on for long enough to make an impact.

But, he would not get near the match day squad at any other club with designs on a top six finish.

Im not sure what your point is here.

We all know that OGH doent have the legs anymore to run around like a mad thing for 90 minutes, but what he was kept for was perfectly justified on saturday.

He came on fresh, chased, harrased and put himself about for 10 mins. Having a character around who given 110% for over 10 years for me is invaluable.

It was at the stage in the game that his presence was justified and perfect. Were tying up a game and he comes on and runs around like a hungry school boy wanting to touch the ball.

Im not in the we love HART camp, but keeping him on was a good choice and anyone being negative is just plain dull.

Its as if some people moan for the sake of moaning.

So we have someone on the bench who is essentially there in case we need someone to come on when we are already winning and round around a bit without posing any goal threat?

Yes, yes - that's it.

I think it is important that Gus has a range of options on the bench in order to be able to deal with whatever the season throws at him.

(Is 'round around' a modern-day version of the classic Mike Read kids TV show?)

We don't need a back up left back, Kishishev? I also think we need a left winger not someone like that Hartlepool player (name escapes me), as in Townsend or LuaLua and of corse we need a striker. Does anyone know what happened with PCH?

I agree, and with 7 subs he's the kind of player you can have on the bench who can help us maintain a lead in the last 15 minutes or so. Clearly we do need a goalscorer as well though, as he is not one of those.

Striker and left winger.

Murray is fine on his own up top, but everyone knows he's unlikely to play every game. Barnes isnt good enough on his own up top, he just isnt, so if Murray gets injured or suspended we dont look good enough. We cant rely on midfielders popping up with 2 goals every week Murray doesnt play.
Having said that, would rather a very good striker, than a decent striker and a left winger.

he named a defender as one of the 3, which seems odd as we got rid of Tunnicliffe and McNulty.

Think he said a cover defender, with cover being the operative word. Don't think those two would be happy only being second or third choice.

I know Gus has said Kishishev can play fullback but I don't really see it. Quick winger would have him, and he's right footed isn't he?
We could do with someone who can play leftback imo, it's a shame Jimmy had to go.

There is quite literally NO CHANCE, that we are going to not sign anyone else.

Carry on...

I would be amazed if we didn't sign someone else... the now famous 3 required on the official site AGAIN today... first post therefore has ZERO basis in fact...
