would u be satisfied with our current squad as it looks more and more unlikely were going to sign anyone.
i for 1 would be happy to see the team we have at the moment play the season going on our result Saturday, on at least till January . we also got greer and murray coming in to the team .

thoughts..

No, could probably handle no striker as we have Murray but if we are going for 1 up top then we have to get a left midfielder in. Bennett is much better on the right as well.

We need a striker. Especially if are playing with one upfront and Murray is not playing. Barnes doesnt look like he can play the lone striker role that well. That means that we have to change formation, put 2 up top. Then we are lacking cover if Murray or Barnes get injured.

There is quite literally NO CHANCE, that we are going to not sign anyone else.

Carry on...

Lacking a true left winger. Smith is good but not really his natural position I don't think.

I think we will make the 3 new signings that Gus wants by the end of the transfer window at the latest. Our current squad is good but if we get injuries we are short up front and at the back.

we will sign 3 players, Lua Lua will be one clearly.

A striker and cover at Left back i would guess.

If we are resorting to bringing Gary Hart on I would say our squad is not strong enough in depth.

Also, Barnes is not good enough to be a starting player at a team pushing for promotion so we need another striker.

I'm still very confident that we'll get someone else in.

Barnes showed last season that he's no target man, but played well at times in a pair with Murray. Essentially we only have two genuine strikers in Murray and Barnes (don't even try and suggest Hart is a striker) so we will need at least one more to cover for injuries and the lower league Berbatov's inevitable suspensions.

Yep. I would also bet Lua Lua is on the list, and two others. No chance Gus has finished adding to the squad just yet.

We certainly do need more, anyone who thinks we dont should be sectioned!

Decent striker next to Murray and another on loan to make the bench look strong and push the 2 starters.

A left winger is a must also, we have Smith who's impressed me but we need to strengthen in that area.

Then squad wise if we make the right signings we will have a great starting eleven and very good cover which is paramount.

Brezonvan

Smith
Dicker
Barnes
Hart

Looks a good bench to me!

Sorry Walt and Edna whilst I agree with both points you make I feel you have both needlessly had a dig at OGH. Gus obviously feels he is worthy of a place in the squad and he was sent on on Sat to battle as the game got tough as Swindon piled forward. Lay off.

Exactly - Whay does it look 'more and more unlikely' just cos we've not singed anyone outfield in the last 2 wks... Some people really need to be patient so we get the correct men. I still believe LuaLua will come in a week or two and I think we are really holding on for him and Gus is playing games with the Toon trying to get them to hurry along a little. Also it was evident Sat that the team / squad is 3 - 4 players short in my opinion so yes I think we need to sign at least one striker and a left winger...

He made two tackles and dribbled the ball out of play. In fairness, he wasn't on for long enough to make an impact.

But, he would not get near the match day squad at any other club with designs on a top six finish.

He wasn't brought on to score goals, he was brought on as an experienced head to hold the ball up.

Hart is not going to be a regular goalscorer for Albion this season, and I think that was the point they are making. Some people need to grow a pair when it comes to criticism of OGH. We all know he's a legend, but it is fair for people to at least question his inclusion in the team.

Erm...... that was my point. He was not there to score goals. By the way I can take people having a pop at OGH but when it seems like people are missing the reason he was bought on or why Gus gave him another year I am gonna speak up. If they were saying simply he wont score goals then I agree. I did say I agreed with there points generally any way.

I get the point he is no longer a striker (despite I am pretty sure him saying that was what he saw himself as still).

But he didn't do anything other than run around a bit. In those circumstances that was fine. But will he come off the bench and change a match when we need it? Not in a million years.

That could be interpreted in two different ways. Given your other comments, I'm pretty sure you're almost certainly saying the first. The reality is it's almost certainly the second.

1. If we brought Gary Hart of the bench to change a match, he wouldn't be able to (change the match).

2. If we needed to bring a player on to change a match, Gus wouldn't bring Hart on (as he knows Hart couldn't do that at this stage in his career).

So we have someone on the bench who is essentially there in case we need someone to come on when we are already winning and round around a bit without posing any goal threat?
