You are all forgetting one possible scenario Boris impresses the Tory faithfull and they win the by election easily with an increased majority, unlikely but possible.

It's very unlikely, for three reasons (and none of them anything to do with Johnson). First of all, this has been a Lib Dem seat for most of the past 35 years (and before that, it swung between Labour and Tory). The Cons won it when the LD vote collapsed following the coalition but it's very far from being a solid Tory seat. And, with the LDs riding high in the polls, they'll be odds-on to take it back.

Second, the Brexit Party will hoover up votes from the Conservatives - any no-dealers will have a natural home. The vast majority will be Tories.

Finally, when an MP loses a seat in disgrace, there is always a slight backlash against that party in the subsequent by-election ... and there's often a strong vote against the government and for a party outside the big two in by-elections too.

I think this one is a shoo-in for the Lib Dems, unless Vince Cable is caught shagging a sheep in the Radnorshire hills or something

Wow. The man is out of control, drunk on arrogance, if he thinks he can get away with this. That, or he has appalling bad judgement in birds (if we blame the girl friend). Either way, hopefully the blue rinse geriocrasy that constitutes the membership electorate may start taking a hard look at their options.

He will get some grace and time in the same way May did, but it won't be long before he cocks up. May seemed a safe pair of hands and said all the right things at first, remember " Economy that works for Everyone " and " Tackling Burning Injustices " ? Pretty soon though the people who actually run the country, the big corporations via their sponsored MP's , told her the state of play and that all shrivelled on the vine. Then she ploughed on with her vision of Brexit and isolated many of her own MP's with her Red Lines in the negotiations. The rest is history.


Boris certainly ISN'T a safe pair of hands, he is pretty much a political Brian Rix running around with his trousers round his ankles, he admits he " Doesn't do Detail " and so when the bluster evaporates we will realise how truly ****ed our once great nation is. There will have to be a General Election in order to secure his " Mandate " and this will divide the country even more than currently. Lord help us !

Yes, deffo Rix's acting career, specifically the times he would be waddling around with his trousers around his ankles but pleading innocence. In real life Rix raised lots of money for Mencap and was thoughourly decent.... Unlike the clown we will soon get as PM. :-(

So as well as being a liar, a misuser of public funds, someone responsible for a British mother being imprisoned in Iran and serial adulterer we can now add "potential domestic abuser" to the list.

Poor effort, lets blame the rise of Food Banks on divorce ! Worryingly the official statistics for marriage show that marriages are DECLINING in number so there must logically a declining divorce rate . Yet, Food Bank use is increasing ? if you were a teacher then maybe you should look at the statistics rather than believing the dogma you have been fed. Have a little think, are we better or worse off as a nation over the last 30 years ? many teacher friends still in the profession ? how are they doing, what do they think about their job these days ? Have they lost their specialist intervention support or their TA's ? or, are you going to blame the EU for all our woes ?

The reasons for people using food banks are many-fold, one of which is the divorce rate causing untold damage to families and children. Yes, that may be true about the divorce rate, though your assertion is conjecture, but if I could make myself clearer, the amount of people separating who are not married is equally worrying. Your question is typical of you - simplistic in the extreme. In some ways we are unquestionably better than 30 years ago, certainly in terms of whether we tolerate others by and large, but in other areas we are not so well off. In terms of teaching, where I volunteer, there is, as ever, a TA in every class, and they have no problem in recruiting. Your final sentence says it all -I voted remain! Yet again these sweeping statements which make you look silly at times.

By the way, as a teacher, no comma is needed when you use plurals. You need a comma when you describe possession. It pays to talk to a teacher.

Are you totally sure about this? His wording may well have been unhelpful, but I am pretty sure that he was not responsible for her being imprisoned. You need to be rather careful with this sort of accusation.
