Jesus, whoever wins the leadership contest will literally be hanging on to power with their fingertips. A couple of defections and they are screwed.

Boris Johnson is going to have to be really careful with his language or he may find he isn't PM after all.

Whoever wins, they will grasp a poison chalice, just like Theresa May did. The fact that Boris has got probably got the job speaks volumes. Those in the Tory party with any sense have held back, the same fate awaits the winner as the previous encumbant. The fact that The Pied Piper is still unable to call the tune is damning for Momentum.

I think his working majority, if Davies loses, will be three: still, paper thin though. I wonder if those MPs who said they'd leave if Johnson became leader will keep their word. Governing with no majority will be very difficult.

I have a friend who's a Labour activist in his constituency. She's really optimistic about their chances of winning it, Johnson's not too popular there (going back on his word re the Heathrow runway must have damaged his chances).

look more closely at the numbers, the reduction is how we count "majority", the gap between him and second halved. his vote went up a bit, same %.

May seemed a safe pair of hands and said all the right things at first, remember " Economy that works for Everyone " and " Tackling Burning Injustices " ? Pretty soon though the people who actually run the country, the big corporations via their sponsored MP's , told her the state of play and that all shrivelled on the vine. Then she ploughed on with her vision of Brexit and isolated many of her own MP's with her Red Lines in the negotiations. The rest is history.


Boris certainly ISN'T a safe pair of hands, he is pretty much a political Brian Rix running around with his trousers round his ankles, he admits he " Doesn't do Detail " and so when the bluster evaporates we will realise how truly ****ed our once great nation is. There will have to be a General Election in order to secure his " Mandate " and this will divide the country even more than currently. Lord help us !

So - the majority halved then (10695 to 5034). Simple as. That is very uncomfortable for him, Indeed it might well influence any decision he makes to have a GE. I think it would be one of the greatest wheezes in modern history if a PM lost his own seat (preferably as part of a landslide). If he falters on Leaving then he'll have the Brexit Party breathing down his neck too.

If May was Marmite, then Boris is Vegemite. He won't get a deal through Parliament and will have to step down as leader when he is forced to call a general election.
