Why do you think it needs the word "stadium" in it? That was sort of the point of the post you quoted, I thought!

... and actually, "Village Way" sounds OK to me ......

I agree, Village Way sounds kinda nice

But then the fans would be dubbed the Village People:ohmy:

The Southdown

...like it, but how about dropping the word "the" and just going for "Southdown"...after all that is where it is, a bit like Anfield is and Highbury was...as soon as a commentator mentions the name you know what they are talking about, no need to mention the words ground or stadium.

...following your theory, "the promised land" would work just as well!

Like anything to do with Goldstone. As it's built into chalk, what about Whitestone?

I am puzzled why choosing a name for the Stadium is being discussed, approximately a month ago I read that the Board had come clean as to where the remaining cash was coming from, apparently they were hoping the council would pay to share the stadium with a local college/Univercity,however due to the credit crunch this was no longer possible, has another organisation come forward with the necessary funds?

Get them all going -- something intimidating, something traditional, something quirky, something corporate, and plop 'New' at the front.

The Auld New Fortress Bridgestone Dripping Stadium of Community Death.

Uncle Spielberg has had a run of winners lately. That and we had a whip-round.

According to my reckoning you owe us 65p.
