I see people saying our team isn't good enough;

Kuipers
Whing
Elphick
Virgo
Hinshelwood
El-Bad
Cox
Fraser
Livermore
McLeod
Forster
Murray

Now I admit LB is a bit of a problem (El-Bad has usually deputised there ok though) and we're a bit light in midfield but that group of players should be comfortable in this league. I agree the fringe players need improving but I'm sure most clubs in this league could say that.

We lack a midfield who can control the game. Someone who can put his foot on the ball and spray passes about, sort of in the Richard Carpenter (before he got crap) mould.

Other than that our squad, if they are given the right tactics and stop hoofing it, are more than capable of competing at this level.

Would help if our best defender wasn't at Forest though...

I couldn't agree more. On paper that group of players should be comfortable in league one. The only problem is the fact that they often play like they have never met before. It honestly baffles me.

I think they are good enough. They do just need better managing I think. Last night they all just seemed clueless, didn't know what to do to break down a poor Luton side.

Chirst our first choice midfield is wank isn't it. No wonder we've chosen Virgo to play in there, even he is a much better option than someone like El-Abd. If we had more than one midfielder (possibly 2) who is competent at this level it would be a start.

Come to think of it I would have thought Birchall would be in our first choice midfield over El-Abd or Fraser?

I do agree and it's a problem we've had for a long time. However I think if we were clever our CM would battle hard but all our creative play would come down the wings to compensate. There is also scope to add creativity to the centre by playing the diamond;

Fraser El-Bad Livermore
--------Cox----------

Or could actually actually get a sensible loan or signing in?

It's ok saying that on paper but in reality it's not.You have 12 players only. That is far to lightweight for an entire football season. We have good defenders and decent strikers. The midfield is appalling.A decent team has two players for every position. We may not have funds for that but you would expect a squad of at least 18 players.

Forgot about Birchall. He could do a job in midfield.

A good team in the prem does, a Lge 1 side doesn't.

Kuipers - Sullivan
Whing
Elphick - Hinsh
Virgo - Lynch
El-Abd
Cox - Robinson
Fraser
Livermore - Birchall
McLeod - Loft
Forster - Fleetwood
Murray - Gargan

I make that 19 with half decent back ups. Could do with a LB, Midfielder and Striker I admit but it's not dire straits squad wise.

Totally agree Leslie, I've been thinking this for ages. But they all play (as I'm boring myself by repeating) like a team of individuals who've never met before.

I actually feel sorry for them, I really do, especially when you see things like the Glenn Murray incident on Saturday, the poor fucker.

We are talking about back ups here, Sullivan hadn't played until recently but proved himself a very able deputy. Honestly Algie, why can't you have an adult conversation without resorting to some back of the class finger pointing and laughing? What are you expecting from a 4th choice striker in Lge 1? I would say a youth striker with potential is what most teams would have.

Some of them aren't great but under a decent manager some of these should at least be decent second string.

Agree with all of that - hopefully Forest will go down, Adams will be gone and Lynch will return and next season we can push for promotion again!

I would say the biggest problem in this league is finding strikers and we have 2 decent ones.
