I’ve mentioned this on here before and been met with tumbleweed (and haven’t seen it mentioned on here since the draw) No one appears to know anything about it, and no one on here claims to have gone. I remember as a kid reading the result in a subsequent home programme. but as time went on I just thought I’d dreamt it. Anyhoo, this is from the book ‘Seagulls!’

We played them because PSV pulled out of a friendly. Apparently we played Palace, in another friendly, the day before and most of the team played both matches.

Ignore my comment above as yes, you were correct. Apologies. I was actually at the Palace friendly in question.

I remember it happening as a trial for the team, as they were likely to qualify for Europe that season. But the uber defensive style, which was working very well, was abandoned and we reverted to an attacking style and sunk like a stone as a result. Can’t read the article as it is riddled with pop ups.
