An insightful, intelligent and non-knee-jerk reaction post. Well done mate, are you sure you're in the right place?

Why thank you - I played full back for 20 years and know how much of a c*nt you can be made to look just because you have a lazy or inept midfielder not helping out.
I know we are exposed for pace with the Adams so they need extra help, as tacklers go you don't get better but if they get stretched they will look useless.

I feel people are jumping on the bandwagon that all the defenders can't defend which isn't true they just need some discipline in front of them.

Virgo and Elphick should be dropped at saints. Unless we get an experienced player in then it should be Tunni and Wright at centre back.

Is it just the defence or is it we don't defend as a team because the Oldham match for instant Crofts was leaving el Abd exposed all game.

So is our MIDFIELD good at attacking but not prepared to cover defensively leaving 2 on 1?

Wilkins made the team defend as a unit and that's exactly how we can shut up shop better without the wholesale change of the entire defence going just one experienced central defender on loan and the team defending through the team.

In my opinion it is the defence which is the problem and not the whole team. The defence does not seem to be under constant attack which makes me think the rest of the team are doing their bit. And in my view they seem to be doing their bit. But, when the defence is called upon they often make calamitous mistakes often born out of individual error.

I'd go with this.

Fickle on here, aren't we - not long ago we were supportive of our home-grown players - El Abd, Elph, Virgo, Fraser etc. - and in the Wilkins era there seemed to be a genuine supply of youngsters coming through. They might not have been great, but they were OUR not great players........over the summer, it seemed that a lot of the local lads had been given away, to be replaced at great expense (by our standards) by players who, judged by pre-season and results so far, are no better than those we gave away.
Yet suddenly, it's the local lads being vilified - OK, so none of them are playing like they did at the end of last season - far from it, in fact - but is that bad management, bad coaching - or has the clearout ripped the identity from the team? Just a thought........

Hear hear...we have spent money and are a worse team. Bear in mind that the players who come in are on much higher wages than the likes of Fraser and are no better...just older so the chance of any resale is less.... Sounds a bit of a daft policy to me. I think we can all stop looking for scape goats who change from week to week so that the club stop making knee jerk reactions to public opinion and sort the real management issues out....unless you are in chelski or man citys league, throwing money about aimlessly is not always the answer.

Exactly. Wycombe did not have loads of chances today but still scored 4.

When all fit I would like to see a Hoyte - Tunnicliffe - Wright - McNulty back line. Hoyte and Bennett have looked quality together and Wright is a centre back and reports from the Leyton Orient game say he looked good back there

Elphick and El Abd should not have played today, they were both crap against Hartlepool last week.Kettering managed a clean sheet AT Hartlepool today and Wycombe have one of the worst goalscoring records in the whole of the football league.

Who would you have had at left back then? Ask El-Abd where he wants to play and left-back would probably be one of the last positions on the pitch. I think he performed ok today considering he clearly isn't a natural left back.

To judge the defence too harshly today is unfair. They looked relatively comfortably until Hoyte was sent off. The penalty was ridiculous and we had looked ok until he went. Who knows what the score would have been if he had stayed on the pitch.

Bennett is not a right back but he is professional enough to do a more than competent job there. Not like other members of the squad who dont give a shit and are not professional enough. Like a lot of other fans ,i am fed up with the pathetic ,lame excuses.

There was not one player on the pitch today who didn't give a shit...

Spot on re above. Virgo and Elphick need either a spell in the stiffs or to be transferred to release wages for better players. Virgo in particular thinks he is better than he is and how he became captain begers belief.
