Greer and Uwe seem like the same type of defender. Can cover and tackle well, but awful at headers. Goldson and Dunk can win headers, so I'd pick Greer/uwe with dunk/goldson. The combination would depend on form I suppose

1st Choice Greer 2nd Uwe 3rd Dunk

Need to see more of Goldson before judging but if he can perform like he did vs Ipswich each week he would be 1st choice for me.

People keep saying Goldson is inexperienced but he did play over 100 games before joining us. He might be lacking in championship experience but he has a lot of lower league experience for a young defender so he is not the complete rookie some on here would make him out to be.

Didn't look like a rookie on Tuesday that's for sure. Didn't he also captain Shrewsbury at times (and was their POTS twice ?). Aside from his assured defending, loved the way he broke forward several times, both with the ball (looked like Lawrenson at times) and without it making decent runs for others. High hopes..........

I think it may very well be Gordon Greer's last season and I'm not so sure he is match fit enough to make it to the play-offs ???

So I think it will Dunk and Caldwell still leaving the need for a left back.

Sometimes people are just talented and age doesn't make a difference. Look at some of the 19 year olds which have come through academies in the Premier League and Bundesliga and are now tearing it up before their 21st birthday. Goldson may just be naturally talented and already have the ability to play at this level. He could be a great defender for the Albion for the next three seasons (until he's inevitably sold).

I think some people on here just think you can't get a player from the lower leagues to play straight away. Dazzers comment about Lawrenson is an interesting one as Lawrenson was bought from Preston after establishing himself as a youngster. He had the quality to go straight into what would now be a Championship team. GBMan is spot on in saying that he may just be a good player and is ready to go.

Of course, we are all judging on a limited viewing but maybe, just maybe, we have unearthed a very good player.
