You mentioned in your Falmer announcement thread that your source indicates that there will not be an announcement on the 18th Oct because of the Palace game.

Surely that is bad news for us - why 'delay' an annoucement if it is possible good news/ Yes?

If it is going to be a Yes then what would be wrong with an announcement on the 18th?

Or does it simply mean that with 16 working days left till the end of October NO decision has actually been taken yet?

How would i know?I'm pissed.
It's possible that the government don't want 3000 fans pissed out of their heads at a game against their biggest rivals .........though i might be anyway:drink: :drink: :drink:

But will they though ? What will Agent Noades do when their lease expires ?

WEhen does it run out?

Well I've been told in two years time although I can't say for sure. It will run out at some point and as Noades is moving away from football having been ousted at Brentford he could make a whole lot of readies by seeling the land that Smellworst resides on. Even though it's near Croydon it's still considered desirable.

Why would there not be an announcement just because we are playing a football match? Kinda makes it hard to make an announcement before May then!

For what it's worth, I reckon the announcement will be delayed until the last possible moment. Making an announcement before they have to would surely set a precedent for other cases. They wouldn't want that would they?

I can understand the warning - which was probably given by the police to the ODPM - either way the announcement could be likely to incite unrest.
If a No - well you can imagine the Palace taunting and the reaction of some of ours
If Yes - there will no doubt be goading of the Palace by oirs etc etc ... it is simply a ONE day damage limitation issue

Us giving the Palace shit cos we've had a yes decision wouldnt cause problems its just banter and they'd give some back, sounds like bollox to me I dont think the match is relevant in anyway to when they announce the decision

But it is relevant to the police and how they police the event

And the potential for trouble is always there and the OB's job is to prevent it (Unless they all belong to the same masonis lodge, the police will have NO IDEA which way the decision is to go

It is common sense

Maybe though the police in Croydon arent renowned for their common sense, I wouldnt imagine they have given it that much thought, it will be maxed out with police anyway

Theres so much speculation and rumours and I dont think anyone has got any inside contacts which really knows either

I honestly don't think the police will have any effect to the timing of the announcement.

The point on the main thread (Falmer Decision) is thankfully quite a few of us do have good contacts within the civil service.

Our guy who told us the July 2004 decision was due the next day and at the right time was spot on to within 15 minutes!

So we are using him (and others) again to give us a clear indication when to expect the announcement. So good or bad, we can at least be ready.

Maybe not ... but our information is the ODPM has been given advice by the police, whether the ODPM accept that advice is up to them, but ministers usually do take cognisance of good police advice.

Could be I suppose, my point was that I doubt that the ODPM or the Police would actually change the announcement date on the basis of any football match.

having spoken to a couple of other people (and also reading what Lord Bracknell has posted) I don't believe there is an announcement date yet, as it is likely the decision has not yet been finalised.

Having worked both in the national press and in local government you can bet your bottom dollar that they will make the announcement at their own pace to suit all sorts of factors, such as which civil servants are on a day off, whether JP is in Manchester, Hull, or London, whether Yvette Cooper needs to issue a press statemnet, whether they need to bury it amid other news due on a certain day and whether they deem police advice over crowd control on a particular day important etc etc ... the ONLY thing they must do, is do it BEFORE 31 October!
