The striker we sign will most likely either be Brewster on loan or Karlan Grant on a permanent for around £15m or something entirely out the blue from the French or Belgian league. Think there's a good chance on Gonzalez as a versatile forward option and hopefully we can get a lwb over the line.

Expect Andone, Bernardo, Jahanbaksh all to leave. No sources just educated guesses. Palace signing Batshuayi and Eze even if they lose Zaha they'll be absolutely fine again. Villa really going for it. Newcastle really going for it. West Ham bit of a shambles, Burnley standing still, promoted sides and Sheff Utd all strengthening up. Everton taking the piss with there financial power. Saints, Wolves and Leicester in a position to leave us all behind a long with Everton.

Gonna be another extremely tough season. Getting less and less confident watching rivals make decent transfers. However, still think we've got more than enough to match last years performance.

Like the look of Grant. Could be a shrewd move. Brewster if we could get him permanently and at the right price would be interesting. As long as we get some quality (and height) with the incoming striker then we could be in for a cracking season. A really like the look of our squad. If we are to play 3 at the back then we defo need a threat up top aerially. A left back would be nice too.

I think the strategy is (a) get some important business sorted early [Lallana, Veltman, Dunk contract, White contract], (b) be active in the middle bit of the window, but don't pay silly money, (c) be ready to pick up the pieces towards the end of the window when things shake up. Holding your nerve is critical. Ideal scenario for a poker player....

Well lets not get too carried away.
Newcastle have Gayle (injured), Carroll (benchwarmer) , JoLinton (40m failure) and now Callum Wilson (ageing/expensive - 8 goals last season)
Palace have Benteke (1 goal a season), Wickham (1 goal a season) and now likely Batshuayi (we'll see). They also impressively loaned out Sorloth who couldn't score for toffee but then started scoring as soon as left SE20 and is now worth £m apparently.
Villa have an untested £30m Champ striker, jurys out Wesley and jurys out Samatta - that they've spent £60m on !!

Any sane and neutral Premier League observer would take Maupay over any of those you’ve mentioned. However, if he gets injured on Monday and is sidelined for a significant period, we’re going to be relying on Connolly and maybe Gyökeres.

You must agree that this is not a great position to be in?

However, I do have confidence that the club has something sorted and we’ll find out by the weekend. They’d have kept Glenn if there was a risk of starting the season with just two Strikers.

My guess is that we are keeping our powder dry publicly as usual and awaiting the top six settling their squads so we can loan or buy a bigger fish than the best of the Championship. Chelsea, for example, may well be keen to reduce their wages bill after a big transfer window. They may not be the only ones.

I believe the same thing (or similar). Plenty of clubs, perhaps not in England but everywhere else, needs to sell players to survive this covid thing, basically. At this point they are still hoping to get "normal" fees for their players, but as October 5th gets closer, they will be desperate to sell. I think one or two new players are more likely to come near the end of the transfer window rather than now.

Liverpool have allegedly now advised that Brewster can go on loan or permanent (with a buy back clause). This more what I had in mind or even a bigger name.

Completely agree. I love the look of the squad although we do look a bit thin. 2 or 3 hopefully signed before the window closes would be ideal.

Well we still have Connolly but of course - and any sane and netural premier league observer and Graham Potter himself would imagine we're strengthening the team in the next week or so. More so if Maupay had a serious injury.

difference is ridsdale had no money to spend and spent anyway. now they have money and are spending, whether it pays off or not remains to be seen. but these transfers are not hedged against season ticket sales in 2034 which is at least a positive
