OT: Laptop Help.

I'm having some problems with my Sony Vaio latop. Only had it around a year and it's in good condition. I was using it as normal one day, and when i logged back on, the wireless settings wouldn't let me connect to our sky modem thingy.

I've looked around all the internet options, troubleshooting menu's etc, tried switching wireless buttons on the side of the laptop, looked on the internet, but no luck at all. Can't afford a repair really at the moment, so would anyone on NSC have any suggestions?

I have tried turning it off and on again.

Have you tried disconnecting the box and letting it cool down for an hour before reconnecting and trying again? I used to live in a shared house where they had a Sky wireless box. It played up all the time and that was our work-around to get internet access again.

find your little wireles icon in the taskbar (normally a little tv screen) right-click and go to 'view available wireles networks' if yours is not there , then possibly a problem with ur wireles router, if it is there then connect to it .

Thanks for both suggestions. Thing is, I have another laptop (the one I'm using now) and I don't have a problem connecting on this one.

Just a thought. I too have a Sony Vaio. Every now and then despite the wireless switch being on - it does not connect. On my model the desktop has three 'logos' in a block at the centre top. The left one needs to be clicked on to go green - for some reason it can turn itself off. Apologies if too simple!

My Sony Viao also sometimes doesnt log on...right click the internet icon on taskbar...available wireless connections will be listed..if yours is there clck on it and you will be back in business.
