OT: DVD Ripping Software

Can anyone recommend some good DVD ripping software, as I'd like to store all my dvd's into a digital format.

I've been using AnyDVD to copy DVD's but the ripping facility is pretty naff. Would like to convert them into .avi or mp3 files.

Sorry did mean in a mp3 format which can be stored on an external HD.

I've always been well served by Free Rip. But then I mainly rip stuff as a starter to a longer editing session with Audacity! Whether it'd be buggerall use to rip video as opposed to audio output I dunno.

mp3 is an audio only format. You do want to keep the video, right?

am also looking for some sortware to burn dvds from avi files. using nero at the mo but will run out soon. anyone got any good suggestions?
