OT - BBC i Player on Humax Freesat

Anyone advise on how to watch i Player on me Freesat box. I know somehow it needs to be connected to the internet and I have wi-fi in the house, but how do I do it?

There seems to be both ethernet and USB in the back of the Humax Freesat box.

Uncle C - you need to connect your HUMAX via an ethernet cable to your wireless router, then iplayer is available through the red button on all BBC channels. HUMAX freesat doesn't have wireless capabilities (it has to be physically connected) so can only be done if the HUMAX box is near your router, which in the case of my house it is. If you do get it set up, it's well worth it as the higher quality picture comes out really well on my tv (42 inch plasma).

My router is a fair distance from the TV, so what about an ethernet cable from the Humax to my laptop, which is then connected to the router wirelessly. This would be my easiest set up, but will it work?.

Hi i had the same problem but got round this by going on line and ordering a 10 metre cable was able to run around the wall at carpet level to the router.All wholesalers sell this cable.

Unfortunately I'm in a bungalow and the router and TV are at opposite ends which are 'miles' apart.

I have tried the laptop and wirelss link but it doesn't work. Have got a couple of Netgear ethernet wall-plugged switches in the cupboard. Will give these a go. They carry the ethernet through the household mains wiring.
