No - he's a Basque. I may well be wrong but I don't think there was a particularly big beef between these minorities within Spain, as much as their collective beef with Madrid of course.

According to my half-Spanish mate, as well as tending to have a different blood group (I forget which), you can tell Basques by their thin noses and slender bottoms.
