Oscar Garcia has replaced Gus on the Legends Wall

The people saying "It's not a Legends wall!" are just trying to excuse its crapness. And I take Seasider78's point, it shouldn't really matter to me, but I find I DO get irrationally irritated whenever I see it.

So do I. The whole concept and design is flawed from start to finish. It is by far the worst thing at the Amex and is, quite frankly, embarrassing.
It is supposed to run chronologically but the current manager is at the start. The players then run in date order and it finishes with our little friend LK. I looks like the whole thing has been dreamed up by someone with little or no club knowledge and they have asked Paul Rodgers to be the consultant. Hence half the players he played with appear on the wall.
It should start with players...include more famous faces from the past...e.g Webb, Cook, Thorne etc...thin out some of the more recent...e.g Butters, Rodgers, Knight...move onto managers...Lane, Mullery, Poyet...and finally others of distinction...e.g Bamber and Knight.
Then you would get a true club representation, not this ghastly mess at the moment. Barely anything from formation to the 1970's and then the class of 2000-20001, in all its glory, most of whom played in the bottom two divisions.

An iconic image captures a moment, a moment that involves a player who might not contribute much to our overall history, a player who might not have connected with the fan base or stayed around much, it is just a picture that sums up an event or an era or an emotion etc. You see an iconic image and the memories come flooding back, you know what it represents and the emotions you had invested in that.

A legend is a person who maybe was involved in those iconic moments, or maybe contributed to the history of the club in another way, formed a bond with the fans and felt like he was one of us, and so on.

Are you serious....He tells the chairman he wants out in the middle (no sorry), right at the business end of a promotion campaign,,,,and anyone that thinks he was motivated at the end of the season needs to look at some replays...you don't think that was damaging and then what followed in the summer..You think that is in no way connected to our start of the season

I don't see what 'unbelievable' damage had been done. His saying he wanted to leave preceeded a great run of form, I wouldn't imagine a new manager at that time would have been able to do any better. It seems clear now that Oscar was lined up a long time ago. It's not ideal, but some managers take over halfway through a season, I don't think everything that goes wrong for the next few years can be blamed on Gus and I think you're hugely over-doing the damage

How do you explain our long unbeaten run at the end of the regular season. Doesn't marry too well with this dozy conspiracy theory that the best way Gus thought he could help himself was by losing games.

i wouldn't say screwed over. We lost one key match that same scenario has happened several times in our history. I don't think the drawn out procedure has made much difference, a new manager in charge is always going to be transitionary. Oscar being here 3 weeks earlier will have made little difference as for a start the players were on hols and secondly pre-season is mostly about getting match fitness

100% agree. At the moment it doesn't work either as a Legends Wall, Iconic Brighton Moments Wall or Football As Art Wall. I suppose the club could weasel out of it by saying "well it's got people talking and that's the main thing", but that would just be a cop out. It's just an unstructured, random set of people, some of whom are Albion legends whose names will ring down the years and others are journeymen pro's who passed through our club for a few seasons.

Whatever its called I would doubt whether the images containing Guy Butters and Charlie Oatway can be described as iconic......

If its not a legends wall then it should re-thought as others have said, in the same way that The Emirates has images of their players on the outside wall of the stadium.

In terms of Gus Poyet, regardless of the current situation, IMO, he should be there. He resided over a very successful period in the clubs history....... surely that cannot be denied.

Well they didn't look very motivated to me, for a one off 90 min all or nothing game.

...so on that basis Robbie Reinelt should be up there...and a case could be made for Jimmy Melia ( Cup run manager )...Bert Murray ( the only player that the fans helped to buy )...Vicente ( amazing rapport with the fans )...Mark Beeney ( for helping to save the club )...etc..etc.
