Hardly surprising the target has been dropped given the result of the referendum. And then we get the local labour councillor in this weeks Brighton Independent raving about how a devalued pound is brillant for Brighton and Hove as more foreign tourists will visit. Completely overlooking the higher oil prices which will increase transport and distribution costs and given that there is no certainty that the increase in tourists will happen given that they may believe they won't be welcomed or indeed that they will spend more.
Which just shows the high caliber of councillor that we have locally.

Its also been pointed out that any gains in the tourist market are outweighed by the loss of business clients who are worth much more.

An economic policy that was presented as the only option and caused misery to so many people is now shown to have been just one of a number of options. Maybe if we had opted for investment and growth instead of the straight-jacket of austerity we wouldn't see the levels of desperation that fuelled a leave vote. Alas a reversal of this policy will be too late to help many of these people now as Brexit has its impact; it's always the same people that suffer the most.

You know, the political party that's well known for being frugal and using tax payers wisely, saving for a rainy day and generally ensuring there is plenty of money in the Government coffers for years to come without the need to borrow and thinks about future generations when it comes to public money and how they will be able to afford public services and new infrastructure rather than spending it like it's going out of fashion just to win votes through public opinion of them being caring and then portray any political party taking over the mess they've made of public finances as evil for trying to put the country back onto it's financial feet?

Except the millions who done what they were told and went out to work but still find themselves in abject poverty and still unable to decide if they should turn the heating on or feed the kids.
As long as it is done responsibly i fail to see why so many on here who regard themselves as smart cannot see that borrowing to invest creates growth, but halfwits like you cant even see the the failure of the Tories as long as you are ok nothing else matters.
I am not saying Corbyn is the answer but Austerity in its hardest form has not worked and has left many desperate people in its wake, while the rich get richer.

This has nothing to do with me but, as I said, the electorate's view. In the most recent poll I could find, from YouGov in August, 35% thought the Conservatives are the party best placed to run the economy, whilst only 17% thought Labour are.

It's not news for me to say that often Labour have been unable to convince the electorate of their economic credentials, and they seem to be in that same spot once again.
