Spurs actually paid for the tests as there is no testing out side the champ.

Good job they did.

Spurs are happy to pay orient an amount if get a bye.

I thought another idea would be to play both u23 teams.

I don't think Orient HAVE an U23 team. Just first team and a youth team (from a quick look at their OS)

This has just highlighted Spurs' (intended) fixtures to me...

22/09 - Orient
24/09 - Shkendija (Europa League)
27/09 - Newcastle
29/09 - Chelsea or Barnsley (Carabao Cup)
01/10 - Europa League fourth round (if they beat Shkendija)
03/10 - Man Utd

Astonishing, how will the players cope. I would imagine the £100k+ a week will somehow get them through this awful situation.

Worth noting the 5th round isn't being played until 23rd Dec, so plenty of time to squeeze it in somewhere - I assume they will only play their kids anyway?

The testing regimen in the EFL is appalling and frankly dangerous. Clubs can’t afford to have tests? Oh, ok, just don’t have tests then - problem solved.

Players are only required to be tested if they are asymptomatic. But these are young athletes, the people least likely to develop symptoms. All around them however are people much older and potentially less healthy; coaching staff, physios, kit men, bus drivers and so on. Imagine being an older person and spending a week in a room with 18 blokes breathing Covid at you - it’s not difficult to see that ending badly.

I don’t know what the solution is but it certainly cannot he to stand by and do nothing, because sooner or later the EFL will have blood on their hands.

Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's to come this season.

Sadly and especially in the lower leagues, I think this will likely occur on regualar occasions and we can expect quite a few postponements due to the lack of testing at that level and the likelihood of the virus spreading more than at a Prem club who are tested regularly, so could an infected player could be pulled from a squad more quickly.

Personally I think it's inevitable some games will fall foul to this during the season, and depending upon changes in lockdown restrictions, I suspect the full completion of all 4 divisions by the scheduled end date in May 2021 is highly unlikely.

Just the way I see it, and as winter approaches I can't see things improving (certainly not in the short term). If and when the music stops this season I just hope we have sufficient points and are not waiting on some strange algorithm to determine our fate.

Having lots of money doesn't turn normal human beings into Avengers. I'm not usually one to stick up for players embarking on a congested run of games (over Christmas / New Year or whatever), but a schedule of 6 games in 11 days (including a long european trip) is looney tunes. Cash washing around in the bank doesn't take away fatigue. They're fortunate that tonights game has been binned at least.

This feels like it requires a thread title revamp:-
