Ive heard it's going to be tough getting there tonight, especially via Victoria.

I was up that way yesterday and it didnt seem all that bad, but then again that was around 10am and not between the troublesome hours that have bee highlighted.

What route are other people taking? As when you search it on rail enquires it says its going to take over 2 hours from brighton!!

Were still thinking about driving it.

Driving from Bton for an evening KO will be a nightmare surely?

Well we did it for the JP trophy last season and it actually was fine as we hit the M25 around 4.30pm and got lucky I suppose.

London bridge, jubilee line, central line.

I dont really understand why anyone would choose to go via Victoria. ???

Is this a simples journey? Or a little bit of a ball ache?

No. It's EASIER than via Victoria.

If you are coming from Brighton (as I am) ... change at East Croydon to a London Bridge train, if you don't fancy First Capital Connect all the way from Brighton (and who does?)

This is the sensible option. Crappy and uncomfortable trains though.

not really. Get a southern train and Change at east croydon if the direct LB train isn't to your taste. And the jubilee line and circle lines are two of the best tube lines.

Byf, its a *really* simple journey (especially for me as I'm already in the city  )

A FCC travelcard is only a tenner as well if you do a groupsave 4.

Yeah I saw that, unfortunately only 2 of us...meeting lads up there who are working in the big smoke.

I've come through Victoria 3 times through rush hour in the last couple of days and there is no problem at all. If anything it's better than normal because people are avoiding it so if you want to come that way I think you'll be fine.

personally from London Bridge I prefer to stroll across the river to Bank and get straight on the Central Line. I find the Jubilee line to Stratford a bit of a drag. You can of course get the Northern line from LB to Bank if you don't fancy the walk but i found you ended up walking nearly as far underground as you did on the streets.

Heading from Waterloo to Bank then on to Leyton. However will go back vis DLR to Lewisham and then train to my locale. I would honestly recommend going via London Bridge. Victoria is bad enough during a normal rush hour but very unpleasant right now according to people here. If you really want to save money and not go into Central London get a Zone 2-5 travel card at East Croydon, take a Tram to Elmers End, get a train from there to Lewisham and then get the DLR to Stratford where you get on the Central line and Leyton is the next stop. Surprisingly it takes about the same time.

Bank has escalator replacement works as well. Not sure if they effect getting on to the central line or just changing to the central line but it is worth bearing in mind. Whichever way you go it is only a 20 minute journey so no biggie.

As regards FCC direct to London Bridge vs Southern trains changing at EC they take exactly the same amount of time. So it makes little or no difference, except that FCC trains are a bit shit (although the journey is less than hour so it can't really effect you that much).
