As a wee lad, Christmas went thus:

Morning: you got the presents in your stocking/sack that Santa had conveniently left outside my bedroom door on his whirlwind present-giving trip around the globe.

After lunch (in fact after lunch, washing up and maybe walking the dog): All the presents from under the tree were handed out and opened. This included presents from grandparents as well as my main present(s) from my parents.

In my wife's household all presents were opened as soon as they awoke.

I much prefer the way we did it - because it kept the anticipation and the excitment of the day going far longer.

So: how do you do it ?

Ned & I usually open our present to each other as soon after midnight as possible before we even go to sleep.

It depends where we are as to when we open other presents. At home after breakfast but at my daughters we wait.

When my kids were little we used to have another little present on the Christmas tree which used to wait until after tea-time so there was still something to look forward to later in the day.

When i was a youngster i always wanted to open them as soon as i woke up,but my mum used to make me wait until after lunch.
Now ive grown up and become a traditionalist i say after lunch. The presents are much more appreciated then!

I tend to wake up with such a bastard hangover on xmas morning that I miss most of the morning and then open pressies about lunch time. By this time a couple of glasses of champers and a couple of beers has got rid of my hangover and its on it large all day getting hammered. Presents are a minor thing these days. Drinking and only fools and horses are far more important.

Stocking at end of bed as soon as we woke up, plus an annual.

Presents after breakfast has been eaten and washing up done.

Same procdure even when we came back as adults, but as we all got a little older and hangovers started to occur it got later and later.

One year my mum came down at 7 to do stuff with the Turkey (stuffing it and stuff) and was suprised to see my brother wandering around. "ooh, you're up and dressed already - that's good". "But of course mum, thought I'd make the effort".

He was actually on his way to the loo for a final piss before heading off to bed. He never quite made it.

My xmas whilst being a young'n was much the same (but without the dog). Recent Christmas' have been dependant on hangovers.

In the morning as very excited.

Get up with hangover, have salmon and cream cheese bagel with bucks fizz. Let the kids (not mine) open their stockings where I sit om the sofa with glazed look in my eye. Carry on drinking Bucks Fizz, feel awake and the pressie time! I am such a big kid at heart. Help with dinner and then have a HUGE roast at midday, while wanting to play on the new scaletrix.

Drink more and watch Eastenders.

There is a very strict order to things in the Chappers household.

Wake up and make coffee.

Open stocking presents.

Have brekkie - Tinned grapefruit segments followed by smoked salmon and brown toast.

Clean up.

Open main prezzies.

Lunch

Sit drinking.

Fall asleep.

Throw up dinner.

When my kids were younger it was Christmas Stockings in the middle of the night. The rest of the night was spent pleading with them to go back to sleep. Main pressies were opened at 5.00 a.m.

Now they wake us up when they come home drunk from the pub and beg us to get up to open the pressies.

At what stage of my life can I get my own back on them :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Wake up 4am dead excited, Mrs usually tells me to piss off (as she's tired) so i go back to sleep.
Kids wake us up about 6.30 to show us all the things santa bought in their stockings.
We all get washed and dressed and then have a mega breakfast.
Present time is usually about 9.00
Then play with new toys and read the new Beano annual. The kids are usualy playing with their new playstation stuff.
Get dinner reasy before one of the sets of garnd parents come round.
More presents when they arrive.
Drink, eat, drink, sleep.
Then tea time and then gifts off the christmas tree
