Tony Robinson - what a tosser! Not content with a programme BITCHING about Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code he's made another one BITCHING about The Lost Symbol. He talks as though Brown has been writing works of fact when the bloke's a writer of fiction, and a very readable one too.

Tony's personal, Christian beliefs totally get in the way of his ability to objectively report history, and he's just an embarrassment. Stick to playing Baldrick and being a cod-archaeologist you annoying twat!

i think you've rather missed the point there, its Dan Brown who claims in his books that places, groups, artifacts etc are real. Baldrick's program on Da Vinci Code is an excellent tour of the backstory, showing it for what it really is. The Lost symbol program however was rather shit (see, a Mason told me its not true, so it cant be).

back to Only Fools prequal, it has potential to be moderately entertaining, but if you have high expectations it will surely disappoint. i confidently predict it will not be a classic peice of tellybox.

Brown has addmited that he infact does belive in these "secret societys" such as the freemasons. Robinson's programme was just an insight into the past and to explore the possibiltys. I thought the Da Vinci Code one was ver intresting.

one of my lecturers HATES him with a passion, with the word "wanker" commonly used to describe him - something to do with an overinflated ego, which lead to him kicking off in a supermarket over the fact there were no peas in stock with the line "no peas, dont you know who i am". despite the fact he was rumoured to have ended up in the FREEZER after this altercation, there was a ban on reporting it in the local newspaper!

needless to say, this has lead to the attatching of various photos of tony onto her office door on a regular basis

You do need to factor in that one of them is a successful actor/television presenter and the other is a lecturer.

I LOVE Blackadder, but what pisses me off is "baldrick"

Somehow, this thread discusses more Blackadder than OFAH. And I agree with Frutos, the ending is brilliant.

But anyway, Baldrick is funny, yes. But he's not the main source of comedy really, and yet the "cunning plan" thing shadows over what is an incredible TV programme.

Atkinson, Fry, Laurie and other geniuses such as Mayall are the funny men, not Robinson.

OFAH should have been left alone for good after they became millionaires and walked off into the sunset, that was probably (an admittedly distant) second only to Blackadder Goes Forth as a perfect ending.

Everything since has done nothing but tarnish its legacy, and this will more than likely be no exception.

Spot on!

....will probably still end up watching it full of naive hope though... Bit like going to home games in late 2009!

It's on tonight innit.

I probably won't watch it and will come on here later to see how badly it gets slagged off by NSC's critics

Likewise, if it turns out to be the funniest thing since Boris Johnson at the end of the 2008 Olympics talking about ping-pong coming home...then there is always i-Player.

However, I suspect that this will be a steaming pile of gash.

I'm hoping it is as much drama as comedy. There are lots of loose ends to tie up about Freddie Robdel and Reg walking out on the family home. Fingers crossed it is as good as early reviews suggest.
