Div 3 was great up here cos we had York, Scunthorpe, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Darlington etc etc
and in good old days there were Doncaster and Scarboro as well!

Some clubs would be quite pleased with 300+ fans at a place like Grimsby.
Hell, Grimsby would probably be quite pleased too. Personally I couldn't afford it, and it's a dump anyway. But I won't have a go any anyone for not making this particular game, and I guarantee it won't be Blundell Park's lowest away turnout of the season.

Fact is, we're not as big as we think we are.
We can say there were 3 away games on the trot, we can make the excuse that we're playing poorly, that Grimsby is awkward to get to, that it was expensive, that it was Valentine's Day etc but Brighton fans are known for being a bit fickle.
Yes there were mitigating circumstances last time we were at Blundell Park but 312 isn't brilliant from a club that purports itself to be bigger than it really is. Fair play to the fans that went and my hat is off to them, but 312 is poor.

Grrr. You couldn't hear the singing in the main stand? In the second half it was pretty much non-stop.

I stayed in Derby the night before the game, left there at 9:30 while the roads were quiet and it still took nearly 2 hours to get to Grimsby...the place is beyond the back of beyond FFS.

It was an awful journey. Coming home on those pesky A roads was a nightmare. Rain was smashing down. Could hardly see a thing. Bloody divertions etc.
We met the supporters coach just before the M25/M23 turnoff on the way back and gave them a hoot!
I saw one car heading south but that was not far south of Grimsby so no idea where it was going!

When you follow the Albion from the frozen north (been in North East and Scotland for past 14 years) getting to any games is a trek – except for Hartlepool and Carlisle!!!
First thing I do every season is look at the fixture list and draw an imaginary 200 mile circle from home and then work out the games I can definitely get to. Then after that budget for others which are further away.
Last season in Div 1 was murder with Huddersfield, Preston and Grimsby being the most northerly games!
I guess it must be similar for a lot of Albion ex-pats.
Yeh - nearest to Plymouth were Brummy teams last season (200+m)- managed to make most of the away games last season, and this season so far, gave Grimsby a miss though.
