"Hubris describes a personality quality of extreme or excessive pride or dangerous overconfidence and complacency, often in combination with (or synonymous with) arrogance. The term arrogance comes from the Latin adrogare, meaning "to feel that one has a right to demand certain attitudes and behaviors from other people". To arrogate means "to claim or seize without justification... To make undue claims to having", or "to claim or seize without right... to ascribe or attribute without reason". The term pretension is also associated with the term hubris, but is not synonymous with it.

According to studies, hubris, arrogance, and pretension are related to the need for victory (even if it does not always mean winning) instead of reconciliation, which "friendly" groups might promote. Just touching on the actual subject, you can download the full ofstead reports for any school or nursery. It's freely available to everyone.

The single word rating is just a headline.
I had this conversation with a nursery owner when we moved my son's nursery. They were rated inadequate, when the owner claimed single word ratings were unfair and hurting his business the reply was essentially "I read the full report which highlighted many incidents of poor safeguarding, one of which my child was part of". Funnily enough they didn't have an answer for that.

If its not a word it'll be a score out of 10. It needs to be something.

It doesn't need to be a score out of 10 or a word.

If there are detailed reports with all the nuance, then you have your report. Why do you need a word or a number?

However, this government has suggested we use the mechanism, so let's apply it to them.
