You thought the new Inquiry would only cost you £35000 but with no publicity Lewes District Council have upped the amount they are prepared to spend - and are going to spend - to £60000.
Maybe you should once again let the local papers and councillors know what you think of them spending all this money on something that will only be of benefit to the Lewes Community.
The following is an extract from the Lewes District Council cabinet meeting of 24th November 2004.
At its meeting on 6 October 2004, the Council had agreed that a budget of £35,000 be approved for the re-opened Falmer Public Inquiry in respect of the planning application by Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club for the provision of a new community stadium at Falmer. Since that time, it had been considered necessary to employ additional transport witness advice which could not be funded from the approved budget. The Report therefore suggested that a further £21,000 be made available to fund such costs and that such additional sum be met from the General Fund Working Balance.
The Director of Planning and Environmental Services reported details of the need for additional resources in respect of the Inquiry, including the need to engage specialist transport and stadium consultants, further details of which were set out in a document that had been prepared by the District Solicitor which was circulated at the meeting and made available to the public attending the meeting (a copy of which is contained in the Minute Book).
Resolved
That a further budget of £25,000 be provided to meet the costs of the re-opened Falmer Public Inquiry in respect of the planning application by Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club for the provision of a new community stadium at Falmer;
: Alternative Options Considered and Rejected:
That, with regard to Minute 129.3 above, two alternative options were considered, namely:
(a) That a further budget of £21,000 be provided to meet the costs of the re-opened Falmer Public Inquiry in respect of the planning application by Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club for the provision of a new community stadium at Falmer; and
(b) That no further budget be provided to meet the costs of the re-opened Inquiry referred to above.
Maybe you should once again let the local papers and councillors know what you think of them spending all this money on something that will only be of benefit to the Lewes Community.
