On the way home from Derby - not good enough

I think some peoples expectations are far to high, we get a new stadium and the go ahead for the training ground and all of a sudden people think with have a load of money and should walk this league and go up. Yes we do have a great stadium which cost a lot of money, which has to be paid back. I think some people should look at some of the teams in this league, the money they have and the depth of their squads. We can not complete with the spending power of other teams. I think gus is doing a really good job. We have come a long way in the last few years and i feel that we need a few more years to build on the good work Tony and Gus have done. I would rather be in this league and playing good football win, lose or draw, then overspending to get promotion. I would add that so far this season we have played good football, we have just been unlucky at times.

Where are we going to end up based upon our current form is the important question!

Depends on how you define "current form". We are currently averaging 1.8 points per game, which would lead to us finishing the season on 82.8 points. Let's be mean and say 82. That's about average for third place finishes in the Championship.

If you want to keep in line with most form charts and go by the last six games, we average 1.83 points per game, giving us a projected total of 84.18 points (let's say 84), still not quite enough for second place, unfortunately, as the average points total in second place is 86.

Of course, you could restrict it to just the last three games, but then you ignoring tradition (6 games) and cherry picking data to reach the conclusion you want.

(I've seen some tables go for last 8, which gives us an average of 2.125 points per game, 97pts project, enough for first place)

I thought we had some idiot fans. This thread just proves it. Has our own support really descended to this? It's embarrassing, get a grip.

Listening on the radio it sounds like we carved open the better of the chances. If Hammond puts that header we are all happy- fine margins!

This, we had the better chances, Liam hit the bar (admittedly deflected), Lopez fired one too high after a great move, Dobbie almost put through twice, Orlandi header just over. Ok, we failed with all of them, but all they had was a couple of long shots well saved by TK. We dominated possession at a good Championship ground, let's get a grip everyone, compared to what we have had for the past 20(?) years this is great entertainment and I'm going to keep on coming back for more.

Listening to the radio it looked as if Derby were going to take 3 points over the last ten minutes of play, so quite happy we took a point off them, I dont think we will chalk up too many victories away from home in this league however if we are able to field our strongest team at home we should finish in the top half which would be fine.

But wasn't it great to have Bruno back in the side? I thought he was MOM today. Sits back and waits to be flamed by those that weren't there...

You missed the best chance (as did Hammond, when Greer was better placed...) - Did anyone see Greer absolutely go mental at Hammond after that?

Apart from a shaky last 10 when he gave away 2 sloppy corners, he was our 2nd best player... Bridcutt gets MOM honours

We're on a bad run of 3 games without a win, sure. However, we're 5th in the Championship, 6 goals conceded in 10 games, jostling with the likes of Wolves, Leicester, Cardiff, Blackpool, Blackburn for a place in the Premiership.

I call that a good solid start to the current season

2 points from 3 games is a bit disappointing but hardly a disaster given we've been missing some key players. We're there or thereabouts anyway which is all that really matters. The teams that put together a good run from the turn of the year onwards will be the ones that get promoted... if we were 5 points clear at the moment, it really wouldn't make a great deal of difference.

Knuck-a-fuckle we've got Vicente back in two weeks. Along with CMS and Buckles. Opponents ought to be afraid and i dare them to sit back.

The players should think about us fans who spend money really can't afford.

Should they? If you can't really afford to go, then don't - there's lots of others in the same boat that can't really afford to go to home games, let alone away (me included). Stop finding reasons to be so bloody miserable. It wasn't a win...OMG! Poyet out!
