Very winnable games coming up against a misfiring West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves. We could be on a very healthy 14 points come the end of October.

Leaving Newcastle, Hudd and Cardiff in the distance.

Wolves? A winnable game? I hope so but far from certain about that one.

It is going to be tough to improve on what we did last season IMHO. Many of the teams down the bottom have improved and the fact that two of the teams coming up have spent big is going to make points hard to pick up.

The positive is that Cardiff look doomed and Huddersfield can't score at the moment. Which leaves one place for us, Southampton, Burnely, Fulham, Man United :))) and Newcastle to keep away from.

As many have said the next few games will tell us where we are at this season.

Blimey, I wish we were as misfiring as West Ham at the moment! They're looking very strong. It'll be a really tough game on friday. Looking forward to it though. We have to get on the front foot...

and Southampton and not drawing with Spurs or Liverpool as we did get to decent goal scoring chances.
The fact that we had good periods of play in games we dropped possible points from is not really an additional negative.

Along with being angry because we didnt go toe-to-toe with Man City yesterday, your analysis is a bit strange.

Two points less from the same fixtures last year + a disappointing draw with Fulham but I do feel there is a lot more to come from this team. I think we are still looking for that dominant midfielder but as this is an on the bright side thread, it's unbelievable that we are competing on the same pitch as Manchester City. Things have never been so good. So pleased to see Izquierdo back in time for a screamer against West Ham.

The dull part of the south coast
Played 4 of the current top 6 in our 7 games. And Man Utd.

Genuinely the only disappointing result was not beating Fulham.

At the start of the season most people would probably have predicted (after the first 7 games) a win against Fulham, draws at Watford and Southampton, defeats to Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City, accumulating 5 points. For me the disappointing result, and performance, was Watford where we were dire. Fulham and Southampton were fight back jobs from 2-0 down - so no real complaints there. The outstanding match was of course beating Man Utd.

So as it stands we still have those 5 points in the bank.

Looking forward to October will be the test of our resolve, with fixtures against West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves, then Everton and Cardiff in early November. Those 5 games will determine how our season will pan out.

Why do you find it strange.

We stood off Spurs and let them dominate. Then in last 15 mins absolutely battered them. AK probably could (should) have had a hat-trick.

For the Fulham game If GROSS converts the penalty its a different game and their defence is not that good.

Southampton weren't a good side and we looked a lot better when we started going forward.

Liverpool was one of those games a deft flick from Gross and its 1-1 , yes they might have stepped up a gear and scored or they get deflated and we take a point.

Neatly sums up the current situation.
