At the start of the season looking thru the fixture list I thought to myself, "oh my god, hope we don't need to beat Derby or boro to stay up"

Anyone struggling to strike a positive note about the Albion at the moment needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

3 x Cup Semi-Finals coming up that we have a decent chance of winning them all. Conceivably could be playing 3 opponents with nothing much to play for - while we have just started to look f'ing brilliant again.

See where that takes us for the last game of the season at Boro. Might need 3, 1 or 0 points for automatic.

That. One game at a time, if the others slip up it's a bonus.

Our goal difference improved by four over the other contenders during this round of games.....that's good.

Both Boro and Burnley were expected to win today, albeit they made it hard for themselves. On paper Boro should have tonked Bolton and Burnley overcome a jaded, out of sorts Brum. So it's as we were. The crunch game will be the one on Tuesday between Burnley and Boro, and what the outcome will be. We, of course, will have to continue where we left off on Friday.

Fasten your seat belts please.

Obviously we'd have taken this position at the start of the season, but that doesn't mean everything's perfect.
What part of Boro Burnley have to play each other are people not grasping? If we win on Tuesday we will be in a very favourable position.
The fact that even if Burnley draw, we can't overtake them on Tuesday, and we'll have the toughest fixtures left?

We're up against it.

Borough and Burnley may have been slightly lucky recently - but over the past three games we have gradually improved our relative position. Immediately after the home game v Burnley we were 4 points behind them, with a goal differential of minus13. We are now two points behind with a differential of minus 8. It is entirely possible that the goal difference could swing by (say) another four in our favour on Tuesday, with us being a point ahead. We then have Charlton away next Saturday - a team who will be relegated (or virtually so) by then, with an opportunity to pull back the goal differential by another two or three. If Burnley do anything other than beat Preston on Friday night, we will be in the box seat.

I realise this is highly theoretical, but if the above plays out, then we have an unbelievable opportunity - last two fixtures are tricky on paper, but Derby will have cemented their place in the Play Offs, and effectively will have nothing to play for. And Borough, come 7th May, will already be up, and hopefully will have spent the week on the pi$$.

We can only dream :)

Derby might even be saving themselves for the play-offs by then.........

And if the same happens over the next 3 games, we'll have to win all 4 games for promotion.

If Burnley do anything other than beat Preston on Friday night, we will be in the box seat.
That depends on their result on Tuesday, and they probably won't lose.

You say it like it's a fact, but it's probably odds against.

You certainly are dreaming. Of course there's lots to be positive about and even if we're in the playoffs we'll have a decent chance as we've got a great squad. I'm keeping my hopes in check though, as I know it's a tough ask.

Derby might even be saving themselves for the play-offs by then.........
That was his point.

There's nothing certain about the play-offs.The team finishing 3rd will not neccessarily beat the team that finishes 6.
Every game in the play-offs is a cup final and we all know that in cup games weak teams often beat stronger teams.
