I'm confused. How does a 19 year old playing for non league Lewes fail to agree personal terms? Is he convinced another premier league club is going to make a better offer?

Brighton were rumoured to send him back to Lewes(where he's settled and will play every game) Spurs appear to want him on loan at League 2 or cconference club where he might not play. He's got a fair few other PL or championship clubs after him, he may want a better balance of a deal that won't take him away from his current job, home, etc

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Looks a big lad for a wide player.

Be interesting to see what happens today and see where he ends up

Fair play to the lad if so. Not dazzled by the Big City Lights of Spuds but looking to play football.

I think thats a good move for him. I think he would have struggled to break into our first team, and had absolutely zero chance at Spurs. A championship club that are willing to give youth a chance is a much better prospect for him.

Think that’s probably right- mix of contract , short term and long term opportunity.

"What he’s ended up deciding is that going straight from step three of non-league to a Premier League club would be a step too far.

“In some ways it could be seen as a dream move but think about it: What would be his chances of getting in their first team?

"Ollie wants to play first-team professional football and he probably has more chance of that by going to a smaller club."

The Lewes manager's comments.

He also said "“Brighton and Spurs both made bids for Ollie and while Brighton’s was silly, one from Spurs was accepted by the club.". Wonder what we offered. £10k and bunch of kit?

Good for him. In the first half of the season he was absolutely brilliant, consistently. He tailed off a bit after all the transfer speculation, but I think he would have disappeared without trace if he had joined Spurs.

I'll watch his progress with interest.

Sounds like he's got a sensible head on him. Also he was at Arsenal originally, so maybe he has some sense of the reality at big clubs. I really hope this moves works out for him, as he is talented player and deserves a crack at professional football.
