I wouldn't get overly het up about it tbh. A lot of football chanting involves arrogance and talking the piss out of the opposition, its part of the tribalism as already mentioned on here.

I've been guilty of joining in with the chant that proclaims that "Brighton & Hove Albion FC are by FAR the greatest team the world has ever seen". And that was when we had Chris McPhee playing up top. Was that arrogance ?

I always changed it to by far the greatest team Sussex has ever seen!

I was there on Saturday and Oleyed every pass on 20 mins or whatever it was. It wasn’t arrogance, it was us baiting their players to press. The home fans were frustrated too and it forced the Leeds strikers to press when they’d been standing back. It worked, as we passed through them time and time again, then went one nil up. Their goal was a lucky deflection and up until that point we had dominated the game. I’d normally only Oley when the game was safe but I’d do it again in similar circumstances because it had the desired effect. We want teams to press us and Leeds weren’t.
