Beautiful photos.
My home town club and used to go regularly when I was young until the family moved down to Brighton and I started to go the goldstone.
Never forget the 9-0 win against Bristol rovers.

I like old photos of football grounds but I hate newspaper links, only because links seem to take ages to load on my iPad for some reason.

My first Albion away game was at WHL 1977, Ive seen the Albion play there twice since.

Cracking game - the best 0-0 I've seen live with the 'tank' Paul Clark outstanding and 49k in the stadium.

I always took opportunities to go to London grounds if Brighton were away when I was younger, and thought WHL was a cracking ground - especially with terracing.

The old Shelf may have been the best standing viewing area of anywhere I watched football with a great atmosphere. Remember watching Spurs v Leicester from there in early 80s (Lineker and Smith up front for Leicester).

Also went to the 1986 FA Cup semi-final and heard the crack of Mark Wright's leg breaking just in front of me, seeing him miss the World Cup. Pretty sure West Tip won me a bit in the National that day as well.

And saw that Ryan Giggs wonder-goal for United there when he was maybe about 19/20.

Good Grief. The working conditions that workmen had to work under back in the day. No Health and Safety in those days.

After Derby away drove down to London and bought tickets for me and my Sis at the White Hart Lane Box Office for the Eubank - Watson fight that evening . Stood on the Shelf . Amazing atmosphere . Sadly did not know the extent of Michael Watson's injuries until the next day . Also went to the Spurs v BHA games in Div 2 and 1 etc .

Just counted up and went to WHL 8 times, a ground where I got hit over the head when we scored, turned round to see which idiot it was and the 'Spurs fan' was already being escorted out by 2 Met officers

I went to WHL a few times before the 77 Albion game, my dad supported Spurs and took me when I was a kid to some games.
Every time we went I saw trouble outside the ground, and one game against West Ham there seemed to be fighting in many parts of the stadium.

And very little in the way of places to get a beer. Tottenham is horrible now. At least the new ground seems well designed regarding catering. All the best London grounds ( for me) are outside the Premier League

I thought he atmosphere for the NLD was off the charts but Sunday was absolutely amazing. So glad to have been a part of it and to see the old girl off in such a brilliant manner. It was both a joyous and emotional occasion. Loved it.

Been going since the very early 70s and have amazing memories - who can ever forget that night in 1984!

The New WHL may well be the best stadium in the UK once completed but the old place was special.

I think the 'there is nowhere for away fans to drink at WHL' thing is a bit of a myth. I can think of 3 pubs within a 5-10 min walk that accepted away fans.

Went there a lot as a neutral when I lived in Wood Green and Edmonton 1983-1988. There were some great moments particularly the UEFA cup campaign in 84 when I went to every home game; the highlight being Hoddle v Cruyff's Feyenoord. Also Maradona playing for Spurs in 86 vs Inter in the Ardiles testimonial. Special mention also for the 4-1 League cup home defeat vs 3rd div Burnley (when Roberts scored 2 own goals) and a 3-3 draw against Clough's Forest in 86 which may be the single most open and skillful match I have ever attended. More mixed experiences as an Albion fan there but it was great to see us scaring the life out of them in 2005 in the FA cup. Soem of their fans can be irritating as hell but I'll miss the old WHL.
